I'd say go for it if you can get a good warranty and all. The EJ's have their Achilles heels, I've seen more than one "Subaru" itself haha.

Although I'm not a fan of the sound of the new 2.0L FA's in the WRX's, they seem to be proving themselves solid.

They've seemed to have worked out the kinks that have plagued the EJ 2.5L's. Definitely curious to see how the FA holds up over the next few years with more miles and more people modding them.

Also curious as to what Subaru plans to do with the STI. I feel like they've been using the WRX as a guinea pig before making the switch from the EJ.

The girlfriend has been really wanting a subaru so we are gong to slowly look for an outback for her I think. Wish they still did the outback XTs lol. I'll try to test drive a few new ones while she is looking at outbacks and legacys.

After lots of thought and some very hard decision making...The Superjew is no longer with us :(

I've been contemplating selling it for some time now and recently was offered a pretty good deal. I traded straight across for a 2006 GMC LBZ Duramax. I could type out a paragraph to back the reasoning for doing it, but in the long run it was probably a wise choice.

It will be missed dearly. It was the exact car I wanted from day one - and I slowly morphed it into something that was unique and my own. It may have not gotten down the road as fast as some others, but it held its own and it was damn fun while doing it.

    Farewell, beautiful.

Yeah I'm liking it so far. Definitely isn't a drivers vehicle like the Subaru was but I'm enjoying it. The Subaru was like a speedboat. This is more like a luxurious yacht lol.

TW was too cool to notify me that someone posted in here :anonymous:

Wasn't the payment at all. Its actually like $10 more due to the interest rate raising a touch because it's an older vehicle.

Although I had no issues with my car personally, I just felt like it was a ticking time bomb. Over the summer I saw 3 Subaru 2.5l's either blow up or have problems. It's kinda hard not to think "when will mine do that" nearly every time you start it up. I took great care of it and never pushed it over it's limits power-wise, but I didn't enjoy feeling like I'm stepping on eggshells and constantly checking guages making sure everythings okay.

A Duramax or any type of diesel was never on my radar for another vehicle, It's pointless honestly lol. It's a lot of truck. But I saw potential because even though it's an 06, the book value is roughly $4k more than my car was worth. I have enough friends with diesels that were able to steer me in the right direction and it just made sense. If I hated it I could flip it with little to no problem. For every 10 people that want a lowered Subaru in Wyoming, there's 1000 ranchers or hicks that would love a diesel.

That being said, I am enjoying it :anonymous: it makes lots of fun noises like the car did. Plans are to just tune it- fuel mileage is pretty horrid on a stock tune. Maybe some new wheels when it needs rubber. Needs a couple little things here and there. Drivers side A pillar trim is loose and needs a new one, Couple lights on the climate control panel are out but still functions. Small tear on drivers side seat. Typical GM stuff.

It's a boat load of truck, but it is nice. For something that weighs 7k+ lbs it certainly gets out of it's own way.

I don't know much about diesels but I know the LBZ is fairly desirable. Apparently the stock tune is pretty potent and I'd have to agree. Definitely a lot more spunk compared to other diesels I've driven.

Thanks! Here's a couple more. Luckily I have a fat arsenal of photos of that car stored away haha. Should keep me busy for a while.

That LBZ is definately a desirable motor. No emmision bullcrap.

Kinda nice it is out of warrenty as well so you can go right into it and tune it and play. Lots of potential there. I keep thinking I would like one to tune up and get decent mileage out of and use as the roadtrip rig when we travel back to Montana.

And you are 100% right, you will be able to sell that in a much shorter, and higher paying, time frame if you decide here in Wyoming.

Probably referring to the IAG short blocks. They have numerous "stages", depending on how much money you want to blow.

Beartooth won't be nearly as fun haha. Wish we had gotten to make a run at it before she went.

Yeah a good tune is all it really needs. I will probably do a lift pump before anything just to be on the safe side.

The tranny has been built already as well so I was happy to hear that is done and out of the way since that can be a costly fix.

From a sentimental standpoint I will miss the car a ton, it was awesome and it was always fun to cruise around in. From a practical standpoint I felt like this made a little more sense? Maybe?.. Probably not. But it has a terrbo so I'm happy.

Disregard the missing center caps. One was missing and a screw came loose on the other so I took it off. Should have a new one and hardware this week.

Also plan to paint the chrome grille black. It looks very out of place with everything else being black.

Also had to experiment a little bit :stirthepot:

It's on a leveling kit right now, but I think lowering the torsion bars and throwing a 2-3" drop shackle on it and a set of wider wheels might look pretty nice.

Normally i hate the drop,m but ihave seen it on a few diesels around, or they stay at stock size, with a little bit wider tires and not as meaty and it looks mean.

I think you'll be okay with the FA. Even the older 2.0l's didn't seem to be plagued with the 2.5l problems.

For being straight piped it's actually quite tame when driving normally. But holy shit it sounds angry when you get on it. Reminds me of the Corsa on the Subaru almost lol, very tame but sounds good and becomes evil when you give it the onion.

Here's a little exhaust clip of it. The joys of VVT's. Sounds like a giant vaccum cleaner during cold starts lol.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V0HPJzJwdqY&ab_channel=JoshShipps

It varies truck to truck for me, some trucks I think look really good and others I'm just not too fond of. Somewhere in between I think i'd be happy, not super low but just enough to give it a slightly more aggressive stance.

I'm a fan of the body style as well. My mom has a Yukon of the same generation so it was very easy to get acclimated to the body and similar interiors.
