What exactly are you confused about? Have you been through the TAP classes yet?

Yes I have. As far as I was briefed there are no services or programs to help vets find a house when getting out. They have stuff for disable vets, or other problems. But who rents a house to someone newly unemployed, nobody. Just thought they maybe the states or fed would have something to help us transition. Like the VA home loans, would be cool to have a government co-sign so I could rent a place while getting on my feet...

Sadly, there are so many deadbeats now, that landlords have to be very careful. It is almost impossible to evict someone these days. Landlords want assurances that tenants have the means to pay rent.

Maybe HUD Section 8 is a possibility, especially if you have a family with no income?

Dude, you're leaving the Military, why would you expect the Military to find you housing? That is your job now, for all the Mil knows, you may be moving to Mud Flats or moving to Downtown Chicago.

Who you DO need to talk to is a reputable rental agency in the area you are moving to that specializes in finding rental housing or property for someone who doesn't live in the area and has a set time frame they need to work with. Sometimes a call to a local realty agency helps, especially if you tell them you need to rent on a temporary basis until settled and then you may want to find a house to buy. Many of the people are pretty connected and usuallly will have some good advice. You may also find that if you have a good chunk of coin set back [and I hope you do] it may help to offer the first 3 months of rent in advance [shows you have $$$$] once you decide on a place. Having an excellent credit score will also help a lot, they WILL check it, if it's low, no apt for you as it's a VG way to weed out deadbeat tenants.

Not going to happen most likely and if it did, it would take close to a year probably. Remember, OP voluntarily left employment, in their eyes he chose to become both unemployed and homeless.

yep. Not a difficult concept. I would say the last thing i want when I got out is the fucking Army to help me find me a place to live.

OP, try zillow. Post 7 & 9 gives you good advice.

You need to check out AHRN.com. Its a site designed for military members looking for places to rent. I used it to find a 6 month rental when I moved to a new area. Im not AD anymore but the person who I rented the place from was a retired E-7 who was cool to work. Might want to check it out.
