Western North Carolina.... it's not bad here until January usually. I don't mind the cold but it will probably be a covered carport style until next spring anyways! I'm gonna be saving money for concrete!!

I'd trade the cold for some of the heat I dealt with. BUT, you think you'll wait, but it feels so good to keep going. Yeah, I haven't got estimates for concrete, but I can't wait

Love this building. Can I ask the overall cost of this. It looks like exactly what I need on my property for a shop and wood storage.

I just did the receipts the other night. Right around 15k for the building. We were really low there, so it was $2700ish in crusher run stone to bring it up. Between 16 and 36". Still have yet to receive a bill for the site work, but he's a friend of my parents so I'm wondering if my dad made a deal with him. So we should be, with all bills paid, right around 20k. No concrete yet. I had a general estimate for 20k to put up the building, without the overhang, stone and site work. So I figure we saved between 6 and 10k doing it ourselves, and it is WELL over built. The only things I contracted out were the garage door, and gutters. The rest was done by myself, and my wonderful helpers.

It's hard to stop, but the little one is a larger priority. I wish you the best of luck, and patience. It was a great feeling to have a roof on it, but I already had the wall material, so I just had to put them up. Was very hard for me to stop until weatherproof, BUT again, I had all the material. I can't wait to see pics, so post them up as you can.

And truthfully, if I am insulated, wired and heated by next winter, I will be VERY happy.

Started the interior portion of my fireplace project. Figured out the previous owner covered the brick with tile because it had cracked and shifted on the left side. During my attempt to fix it... this wasn't supposed to happen.

Does anyone know if there's such a thing as a wireless add-on light switch? The hard wired light switch in my shop is next to the roll up door, but since I added a man door on the opposite side, I generally come in and out from there. Sucks at night trying to enter or leave my shop without tripping over something in the dark. I'm hoping there is a product that would allow me to add another light switch without having to run 40' of conduit.

There are a ton of battery-operated LED motion-sensing lights out now that are economical and absurdly easy to install. Depends on how powerful you need, but it sounds like you just need minor convenience lighting in order to get in and out the door and across to the main switch. Minimal power use, and you can use rechargeable C batteries, for example.

Like these. I just put three up outside so I could see my garage entry door lock and to get me beck behind the shed to empty the trash. $20 each.

    Just a thought.

This was one of the things I had in mind.
That's getting pretty close to what I'm looking for, but it doesn't look like it would work in a three-way type scenario.
