I installed an aftermarket trailer hitch and the muffler is hitting the hitch when moving. The muffler is in all the rubber brackets but does sway a bit allowing the muffler to hit the hitch causing a bunch of noise. I guess its possible that the rubber needs to be replaced? Or is there another solution like some type of padding to put on the hitch?

    Any thoughts appreciated.

What kind of exhaust has the muffler any where close to where a receiver hitch would attach??

    Tail pipe I might understand

    starting over from scratch
I've seen them come close. I'd check all your rubbers and check any mounting hardware to make sure nothing came loose. You can always go the cheap route and cut the exhaust. If my Flowmaster turned down closer to the axle I would've cut mine

Sorry didn't explain. Exhaust is on the passenger side. It hits the side of the hitch no where near where it attaches.

Exhaust needs to hung loose and allowed to move. Visit muffler shop- they can fix whatever the issue is. Might have to chop and bend you a new section of pipe. Should be very cheap, like <$50

Since we have Tacoma`s it is a given the exhaust is on the right

It is a pretty tight fit between the receiver hitch and the spring shackle mine is about right in the middle .

This is my tail pipe not my muffler .

Is your muffler on the rear of your exhaust then I could see you having a problem where most are in front of the rear axle.
