Coolant leak

    Leaking coolant . 3.4 motor 2002 tacoma. Only when I turn the heat on. Comes from back of motor. I looked and its corning from something that looks like a freeze plug, but it has electical going into it. It also has a set screw in it looks like a Allen head. Any answers. Thanks

    Im not looking at my truck right now but are you talking about two hoses that are going into the fire wall? If so thats you heater core in and out hose.

    No. It's on driver's side near the bottom of the motor. It also has a black electric cord.looks like a freeze plug. Could it be a block heater?

    yep, probably a block heater. When the temps started getting colder last fall, my block heater started leaking a little. It was easier to have a new one put in instead of fixing the one I had. It was located on the drivers side, on side of block. Mine never leaked once it heated up, but if it sat all night, or I just pulled it out of the garage to park in driveway, it would start dripping. No more leaks since it was replaced.

    It was between $200-$250 total if I remember correctly. I could have done it myself, but it was already at the shop and I was just so happy it wasn't something worse, I just told them to do it. note: that did include the good Toyota brand coolant.
