I have an automatic 1996 Taco with 350k miles. I've only recently acquired this and one thing that's bugging me is the auto shifter is loose as anything. I have about 2cm of wiggle room in either direction when she's in park.

So does anyone else have this issue? Also is there a simple fix by taking it apart or will I need to see about finding another one in the scrap yard?

    Thanks in advance.

Yep. The shifter bushings are plastic and wear quick. My truck only has 68k miles and the shifter is loose. You can replace the shifter bushings

I tried to find a thread on fixing it cause I've seen a couple how to threads on here. I couldn't find it though. Do some searching on replacing shifter bushings. There's 4 plastic bushings inside the shifter that all wear out cause they have metal bolts running through them.

Sounds good, I just found a Dorman replacement part that was on Amazon for 9 dollars. It had some mix reviews but the people that could figure out the proper installation said it fixed there loose shifter. I'll keep my fingers crossed and then worse case it was only 9 dollars.
