Camping gear #1 something to hang on, trees will do.

Sometimes it's cold enough to stack gear. Had to pull out my fleece for a few extra degrees of warmth.

Wife and I picked up a pair of bearbutts.

Their prices aren't too bad, I suggest the Kodiak extension straps for when the trees are too far apart.

Always need to have a pair of longer straps at hand. I personally have multiple lengths of tree straps and whoopie slings, allows me to hang from 12ft between trees to 20ft or so. If you are using the ropes that they come with I would suggest to swap them out for some Dyneema loops or whoopie slings.

That's from assholes with nails and ropes. I was just in VA, Prince William Forest, trying to promote good hanging with Old Dominion Hangers to the VA state parks. They require 2" straps, or double wrapping 1" straps.

I picked up Kodiak straps, definitely better than carrying the simple rope.

I recommend getting a group together (club) and get to know a ranger and see what you can do to repair their knowledge and respect for proper hammocking.

I mean for the connection from the strap to the hammock. It looked like they had something like a soft shackle.

I would think they would hold up just fine, as long as the stiching isn't crap, they are all made out of the same materials. Eno is not the Top Brand, they're just the Top Marketing Brand.

The opportunity exists here at PWF to make that change. The Superintendent job was recently advertised. While the Super doesn't make that decision directly, having a hammocking Super helps. (And I know a few of the applicants are hammockers!)

I've just recently learned of the goofy rules re hammocks here in Yose. I'll be addressing it with the Director of campgrounds first. (She's an acquaintance).

Lastly, I have an older model JRB Nest UQ that's made for a Hennessy bottom entry hammock FOR SALE! (Works with any other hammock too. $125 shipped conus.

Jack and jack are Awesome people! Been friends with them for years.

I do not know it's rating... it's an older design, and they've since changed/improved that. I regularly used it to 40*. I have to be warm, I get chilled easily at night, so it kept me toasty to 40.

I have a Grand Trunk. Great hammock. It's the one with the fly & net all in one. I didn't like going a la carte for all of that.

Thread revival. Ive been really wanting to get more into hammock camping. Camped a few times in my off brand double hammock under a 10x10 pop up tent. I just recently bought a kelty noahs tarp 12 for a cover. Now that its getting fall the night time temps are dropping and im really itching to go camping. Ive came across this under quilt on Amazon https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01N95BEZ...colid=9ZT6EGZ6B54U&psc=0&ref_=lv_ov_lig_dp_it. Is this even worth considering? Looks to have gotten good reviews.

I would consider it. The reviews are good. Although I use a sleeping bag.

after reading more reviews I feel so too. The three season one would be sufficient living in Georgia. I don't plan to camp in the winter.

It’s a tad on the heavy side at nearly 2#. If car camping, that’s not an issue obviously. But fir backpacking, I’d find a down UQ. (I use down TQ UQ bags year round. Worth their light weight

Seems from what I’ve seen that’s when things get expensive!?! Any suggestions? I don’t for see any backpacking when it’s getting below 70 at night.
