I have some rust on my front window frames and on the roof of my truck. I called Toyota today and they said,"Sorry, we can't do anything."

Just curious if other people have had any experience with this, and what might be the best resolution.

Things like: Sell it, fix it, or try another avenue with Toyota.

Some stuff. Not a lot, just some.
    Several options:
    • Live with it
    • Get it repainted
    • Sell it
You're not going to get anywhere with Toyota with a 10 year old truck that is starting to rust.

My '05 has some as well. I soak it with red rust check.

I think it's from when they replace a windshield, the tool they use cuts the paint, exposing bare metal in places and water sits in there and starts to rust. Pull back the rubber and spray a rust proofing spray in there to drastically slow down or stop the rust.

You live in a marine environment, everything that's metal rust. You probably need to sell and replace your vehicles in a much shorter time frame than most. You lose to much value when Mr. Rust shows up.

You have to understand that today's Toyota has a 10 year run rate. They arent made well at all. Just do a little searching and you can find at least ten common problems these trucks have, 2 which are life threatening., Maybe more.

You know, the problems Tacomas have bugged me... Until I went and looked at the frontier forum. Now I am perfectly happy with the inherent problems with the Tacomas.

2nd gen Tacomas have been the same design for 10 years. I've seen threads for second gens going 300,000+ miles. I like my chances. Third gen... Maybe it'll get sorted out.

Roof rust always sounds more like a personal vehicular care issue to me. I've seen only a handful of even 1st gen Tacomas with rust on the roof and maybe only a couple 2nd gens, the other 95% with none to speak of.

Did you regularly wash and/or paint seal and/or wax every once in a while?

A dude at work from Wisconsin has a golf gti that has body panels rusting pretty hard core. Not just a Toyota thing.
