Been there several times and it's been years since the last visit. Watch out for yourselves if you go to Carlos and Charlie's. One of the guys on the ship I was on stepped out to grab a smoke and got blindsided by a local, ended up with a broken jaw and that the place Natalie halloway went missing from. I always liked curaçao more though.

Rent a car and go to the other end of the island. It's away from the touristy stuff and there's a good chance you may not see anybody else. I would recommend taking a guided trip too (they have 4x4 offroad trips).

Random side note. My wife and I hardly go to the movies ever because you end up spending $40. In Aruba, we went twice. The tickets were $2.25 a piece and popcorn/drinks were $1 each. So we made it out of there for like $7. They had all the new releases we have here too.
