    Hello Everyone,

need to ask what things i might be overlooking as far as maintenance for 125,000. miles?
We have owned the truck since new, 05 Tacoma double cab prerunner. 4.0 v6.

This was my wife's Daily for the first 9 years of ownership. ALL the maintenance was done by the dealer. <up to 95,000 miles. since then i have done the work, Oil changes, filters, brakes etc, I no longer go the the dealer and the reason is i felt they were ripping us off saying i needed a whole new driveline, (it had a vibration) for 1300 + dollars when all i wanted was 3 new U-joints and a center carrier bearing) they lost my business over it. I pulled the shaft myself and had 3 u-joints and a new carrier installed for 330.

i don't want to miss anything that needs to be done. so i'm asking.

    Thanks.

I've got the same truck with 127k:cheers:

Has the transmission ever been flushed? Differential?(make sure it's got LSD additive if it's a sport). It might be a good idea to check the power steering fluid or just change it for piece of mind since it's so easy(I use one of those baby nose sucker things since we have so many around the house).

Since you're in AZ it might be a good idea to flush the coolant if it hasn't been done in a while.

Thanks for posting, yes for the trans and diff @ 90,000 miles, P.S. i have to check but it's up and looks good. i was planing on coolant flush in the spring. i have always used Mobile one synthetic from new and at 120,000 i started doing oil changes every 3000 miles just because the oil started looking kind of black at 5000. not using any oil between changes.

:) Thanks for the link! i will get one coming. yes the belt should be done as there are some cracks showing on the inside just for peace of mind. i think it's a neoprene belt on it now.

More of a concern about timing chain and or anything internal inside the engine that may need attention. not that i would feel comfortable going that deep into the engine.
we just made a trip from Tucson to Cottonwood with no issues but when i saw it hit 125,000 during the trip my brain started thinking of stuff.

    Thanks

Smart, preventative maintenance will save time and money in the long run + stress when left broken down.

I did my belt yesterday and it was super simple and bought it here: http://www.ebay.com/itm/302121014468?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT

By that mileage I had replaced coolant, hoses, belt, thermostat; done an ATF flush and replaced the ATF filter. Check idler pulleys for play/noise. Spark plugs were replaced with NGK Iridiums. As mentioned, replace diff fluid; pay a bit more and get synthetic gear oil.

If you havent already, i'd flush radiator and put new coolant, change differecial oil, put a new cabin air filter, and have dealership flush the transmission and put fresh transmission fluid. Maybe pull the rear wheels off and inspect brake shoes. And of corse getting on the old crawler and getting under her with a flashlight and checking every nook and cranny for leaks or broken parts every so often never hurt anybody :) Lol, i do it every Saturday :)

I just sent a sample to Blackstone last week, i have not gotten results yet. (BTW, im at 145,000 miles and never thought about having it done before reading about it here :) it is very inexpensive, i think worth doing every now and then, i know i will maybe every six months or so from now on.

Oh, also maybe put Seafoam or some injector cleaner in the tank next time you fill up.

I would not worry about timing chain, just keep an eye out for symtoms of bad head gasket, 2005's and early 2006's have faulty head gaskets, usual fail around 135,000 miles. Just had mine done in June.
