Hi guys I'm new here. I have a 2002 Tacoma TRD 4wd and I just finished putting patches on the frame where it was rusted out. In the process I put new shocks in, since the bed was off and it was easy to do, and now the truck rides really really rough... I havent put the bed back on yet so I was wondering is it riding rough because there isn't a lot of weight back there right now? Thank you in advance

Do you think it is because there isn't any weight back there? Would that make it ride rough?

Rough or stiff . Have u read post where some have installed lift springs like the expo's from all pro made to carry heavier loads and when unloaded it rides stiffer? Usually less or little weight for any application either coil or leaf will cause that , also depending on brand of shocks it may make it somewhat stiffer

It will ride better when you put the bed back on, weight in the back usually helps with a stiff ride. Depending on the shocks you put on as well, if they're stiffer than the original ones were then the ride is simply going to be stiffer

Which shocks did you install? Some aftermarket shocks are valved pretty heavily as they are 'recommended for multiple applications'. OEM shocks will be valved specifically for your truck's weight and ride.

No experience with them personally but more than likely a somewhat generic shock and prolly to heavily valved for something like a 1st gen taco.
