I'll trade you 2:1 of split seasoned pine that I have for that oak if you come to me. I'll even do all the unloading/reloading. I've got somewhere about 4.5 cords seasoned, 1.5 that will wait another year or 2 until I get to it.

That pile is two rows of 4 footers, they will stay there until theres room near the boiler, we currently have a custom built trailer holding another 100+ logs which is covered. it would be nice to have them all covered just dont have the space.

    Anybody else use wood boiler?

Considered years ago when I bought the pellet stove instead. The local dealer started quoting setbacks and distance requirements that made it unfeasible. Then the price tag "$10,000 depending on how much work you want to do"
There are a lot of farmers in the area that have them and for some reason the setbacks and distances don't seem to apply to them. Me thinks the dealer was trying to pull one on me:evil:

I use a Tarm for my home as a secondary to my oil burner. plumbed inline, oil burner only kicks on if I get lazy or too warm to run the wood burner.

I have a Welenco insert and so does my sister in law, difference being that I use mine for heat and her's is for looks. So I pulled the fan motors from it and put then on my setup, and now I have air blowing hard through all 4 pipes instead of softly blowing through 2. Now I just need to redo the door gasket again but glue it so it stays.

Cool thread, glad I noticed it.
Just finished my raised hearth, natural stone veneer with cherry wood trim.
Will be running stove pipe tomorrow.
Gonna be nice to have a stove in the cabin!

Is it not dead once it's cut?

Seriously though, is live oak a species, or a nick name?

    EDIT: evergreen oak species

I'll look for some later. For now, I need to clean the soot off the door and probably get new gasket material. Also out of town for work.

grandparents used a wood stove for the majority of their heat in the winter and i grew up loving the heat. hang up the snowsuits, gloves, mitts and boots around the stove and they were dry in no time. love this about my house, its only small but it sure pumps out the heat when you get it running for a while.
