Simple tire size calculator just for s*its and grins

For those who would like to find the diameter of any metric sized tire there is a simple formula .

My stock tires are 265 70 -16

take the width of the tire in mm , this is the first no. in the size and mine is 265

the second no. is 70 . this is the percentage of the width that gives you the sidewall height .
( sidewall height is the distance from the rim to the outside of the tire. ) there are 2 sidewall heights to a tire

the last no. is the rim size in inches. , mine is 16"

there are two side walls plus the rim added together , to get the tire diameter. you also have to convert the mm's to inches . (25.4mm to an inch.)

Here is for 265 70-16
so we have
.70 x( 265x2) / 25.4 +16 = tire diameter
(.7x 530) / 25.4 + 16
371 / 25.4 + 16
14.606 + 16 = 30.606


Here is for 265 75-16
so we have
.75 x (265x2) /25.4 + 16 = tire diam.
(.75 x 530 ) / 25.4 + 16
397.5 / 25.4 + 16
15.649 +16 =
31.649 inches in diam.

Thanks , much easier if one has a smart phone or comp. with them . I used to do it with a simple calculator or pencil and paper before the other things existed.

 

Because there are a lot of posts that say I have 285's on my truck and the like . I say to myself , 285 WHAT ?

Percentages, multiplications, unit conversions... turd genners can't wipe their asses without a group consultation on the the best toiler paper (TRD, of course), and you expect them to do math?
