There is a USB/Aux port in the console below the stereo. When I plug in a USB thumb drive, it will play a couple of songs and then just quit. Is this port primarily for plugging in a mobile device, or will it handle thumb drives up to a certain capacity, and maybe mine just has too many GBs?

I've got a 2014 with (I think) the base entune system. The USB port I use somewhat frequently with an iPhone and sometimes works, sometimes doesn't. I seem to remember this being a typical issue. Mine however will not stop in the middle of playing - either works flawlessly when I plug in or not at all.

Mine won't play all the tracks from a 64GB thumbstick I loaded up on the basic stereo. Now I run an old Ipod and playback is flawless.

Random songs. I noticed yesterday as I was pulling a mug out of the cup holder, that if you barely even touch the USB stick it will stop playing.

I'll have to try one of those micro-USB drives...may work better than the stick hanging out of the console.

Relocated my USB port to inside of my center console/armrest. Pretty straightforward mod, only took a couple hours.

I have 2012 and posts I found said you will have problems playing a usb drive w music if there are any album art pics in the folders of the music. It gets confused w these files. You may need to download a program to remove the album art including the hidden art before you put them on the thumb drive. I found a simple one after a google search. You may just try to find and remove them on your own, but I had a couple album folders that had hidden album art that the Tacoma stereo still didn't like. It has worked perfect for me once I learned this.

my problem was that I had too many mp3s so I had to break them up into like 5 or 6 folders then it all went more smoothly.

ACC files purchased from iTunes require an iPod to play. If you have MP3's, you can load them on a thumb drive and they'll all play. Could be the reason some of your songs are skipping.
