Through the computer. dealer will do it. unless you have Carista. Laws vary by location, but in Ontario you only have to have a visual indicator for seatbelt. Audible can be disabled. But not both. Ask your dealer. Our you can buy pretty neat seat belt ends on Amazon or ebay that just plug in to stop the dinging .

I have had more vehicle than I can count and I swear, My 17 Toco has the most aggravating seat belt tone I have ever heard. I wear my seat belt, but I always start my car first, get situated then put it on. But that damn beep starts the second you start the truck, f***ing aggravating! Also, as a retired LEO, I always take my seatbelt off as I am pulling up to wherever I am stopping and getting out, so once again...BEEP...BEEP. Hate that damn thing!

There's a procedure in the manual but complicated. Don't know it off the top of my head. You usually have to click and unclick the seatbelt 20 times in a minute with the ignition on etc etc

dealer on maui will not do it, liability. if you got in a wreck and got hurt and did not have your seat belt on and the insurance company got wind that the dealer disabled the chime the dealer could be in for a bit of a problem. can't say that i blame the dealer for not doing it. also if the tec did it without the dealers permission and they found out the tec would be in deep shit.

You can turn it off with the Carista app and an OBD2 connector.

    Google it.

According to to the manual on page 601, it says this feature is customizable, but only by the dealer:

Then they will go after Ford itself. They put the disable procedure in their manuals. I think it's a very hard pressed argument, even in this de-balled society you will blame it on the beep.

I have never heard of an insurance company take that angle, there are even state laws that protect the stupid idiot in a civil law suits when it comes to injuries that may have happen do to not wearing the belts.

What he said... now for my Subie, it doesn't. HOWEVER their disable function is well published.

In the Carista app, there was a pop-up that stated something to the fact that disabling this feature is illegal in some states.

    That's probably the bottom line.

I used MVCI ODBII connector and techstream to disable it on my 15. Cost about $25 for the cord.

The only procedure in the Toyota Tacoma manual for the 2016/2017 model to disable the seat belt buzzer is to see the dealer as described here

In addition to seeing the dealer, the Carista app and OBDII adaptor can also do it; for a list of all the things you can change with Carista look here
