TW accounts for a tiny percentage of Tacoma owners. Most owners have never heard of TW and wouldn't dream of wasting time on an on-line community. We just like to think we're THEE place for all things Taco. But the average buyer couldn't possibly care any less about us.

Also the average person wouldn't have a clue where to begin with modding a vehicle. Buying something like this...prebuilt...is a perfectly acceptable thing to do for a lot of people. Somebody will buy this truck and will be proud of it. And more power to them.

Dealerships aren't preying on people by offering vehicles like this. They are filling a need. They have to pay either a 3rd party shop or their own service department to perform the work. They do not get anything for free. In turn, they have the right to ask for a profit above and beyond what the cost of the parts and labor for the mods are. That means they will ask for a premium above and beyond the MSRP of the truck. Nothing illegal or immoral about that.

These threads are always the same.

Jane, thanks for your input. Speaking of Jane; happy hour and I'm hanging with Jane's sister MaryJane and beer!

I don't know about folks that wanna lift and mod Taco's and don't know about this place?? Hey, it's how I got here! Just sayin...

I saw a truck very much like that one yesterday in I-95 in New Jersey with Georgia plates and a Kayak on top heading NORTH. He had one of the badges that have been sold here on his front grill .... driver gave the :headbang: as I was passing him!

I bet this website gets a lot more traffic than you're thinking.

This was at my local dealership about a few months ago ... 2016 SR5 . Upgrades were the Nitto Grappler tires , TRD Pro wheels, and 3/2 Ready lift kit , and predator side steps. They were asking 38k non negotiable. It SOLD to a state patrol .

Funny thing is....most people around here wouldn't bad mouth it if you owned it and posted up pictures. But because it's at a dealership and was dealer modded it makes for an easy target....then others pile on.

If that's a real DB lift installed by the Dealership and covered then it's not a bad truck. Price is a little high. Wheels are to big. Other than that, nice truck, right.

But why call someone an idiot for buying it? :notsure:

Looks and style aside.....which are subjective....once the actual buying price for this particular vehicle is negotiated down some the difference between that and what it would cost to build this rig shrinks. For some people...that's their only option to obtain a vehicle like this. They either buy it "turn key" like this one or they purchase a stock truck and have a shop to do the mods. That's going to cost some cash regardless of which route they choose.

Not everyone....in fact most people....lack the knowledge, capability, tools or even the desire to perform these types of mods. In addition, most folks don't have friends that invite them over to "build your rig bro" over the weekend....where the only labor charged is a couple of 6 packs.
