I love them. They've survived altitude changes and being parked out in the sun all day when I'm at work multiple times. They get kind of puffy when overpressurized but I just crack the caps temporarily to vent them and it's all good but I probably don't HAVE to do that. Very solid cans/jugs. I had a 2-gallon rotopax that I treated similarly and the cap started a very slight weap after 3 years. I bought a replacement spout/cap and the issue was resolved.

I bought a set of T-Nuts from info@jpmetafab.com; I have their corner/bed reinforcers (used as tie downs for motorcycles) (https://jpmetalfab.com/product/hook-ups-custom-tie-down-brackets/). The t-nuts they supplied were nice and aluminum which I couldn't find elsewhere after a little searching so they sold me 8 for $20 after I e-mailed them. I did have to drill out the holes on the Rotopax mounting plates for the t-nut screw sizes but it all worked out. I also just went with 2 locking Rotopax mounts, one on each side augmented with a regular Rotopax mount.

And yeah the cans are a little less wide then the wheel wells. I could get two dirt bikes in the bed with both fuel cans on the sides, or I could fit both cans when I had my dirt bike and my telescope box which takes up half the bed width wise and all the bed length wise.

    Update for the new trailer:
5x8 taller enclosed box probably 3000# loaded or so, 13-14 mpg going 70mpg
    vs the old trailer:
4x8 vs nose shorter in height 2200# loaded, 18-19 going 70 mpg
    4.0L v6 w/ towing package

mpg took a big hit with the new trailer. Ive got more weight behind me and the new trailer is taller with way more drag

    How does it tow?
Do you encounter many hills where you tow?

    Thanks

IMG_20160908_144226.jpg towing this i got horrible mileage. Less than 10mpg on a 180mile trip. About 450lbs in the bed and combined about 3k behind me. But the new trailer and just one toy in tow (combined about 2200lbs) i have seen anbest of 20mpg. Had to double check my math and obd2 reader. All about weight distribution and im assuming properly maintained trailer axles helped :D20170319_094438.jpg

Towed 3,500 km over last 10 days from Sault Ste Marie Ontario to Edmonton Alberta.
towing Jayco Hummingbird, probably around 3,500 to 3,700 lbs loaded, averaging 11 mpg.
Got the worst mileage in the flat prairies due to the wind (9 mpg).

I have only towed with my '13 DCLB Sport 4x4 one time. I towed my Casita 17ft trailer that probably weighs close to 3,000 loaded up. I had two bikes on the roof and I hauled ass on a flat highway around 75 MPH 100 miles to my destination. I got about 12 mpg. Stayed in 4th most of the time.
I am sure that if I had no bikes on the roof and slowed down to 65 mph (I should be driving at this speed anyway), I could probably get up 13 or 14 mpg.
Overall I am happy with the power. My truck sagged too much for my liking but I just installed some Sumo Springs so hopefully when I take it out again next week that will be remedied.
I just expect to eat it when it comes to gas costs when I tow. Same problem with virtually every other truck out there. Not willing to pay $7500 extra to get 3 mpg better on the the highway with a Diesel.

We went to the Northern California coast, mountains, not hills. It towed well but have since decided that it's too much trailer to be lugging around. I slowed to 45mph on the longest, steepest grades and she was breathing hard on everything that wasn't flat.
The new trailer is 3,300 lbs.

    Thanks much.
Been researching for trailer to get (early next year). I do plan to spend a lot of time out west. At present, thinking a max of 3,500 lbs dry -- 4,500 loaded.

That would work no problem, just go easy in the mountains.

As long as you don't tow in D your truck will be fine with that (assuming 4.0 with tow package). My travel trailer is about 4,500lbs dry and I tow in the Sierra Nevada Mountains. Loaded weight is between 5,000 and 5,500lbs.

Absolutely x2, NEVER in overdrive, and don't let the tranny hunt for gears. I use a scangauge II to monitor all that.

Thanks very much for your inputs
    Yes 2015 4.0 4x4 with tow package.
Also, have a scanguage II... wanted to be a base line for tran temp prior to adding cooler &/or towing.
I am not too opposed to making it work hard... that's it's job :)
One trailer I really like is the ORV 20RD -- dry 4,300, figure loaded it would range 5,000 - 5,500 (it holds a lot of water)
    http://outdoorsrvmfg.com/black-rock-20rd/

I did see "Mr Truck" do a run with a Tacoma up the Ike incline (in CO I believe... I think 8% grade for 6 miles) and he felt good about towing 5,600 lbs both up & down (3rd on way down). But his trailer had a lot less wind resistance than normal trailer.

Also, thought of putting supercharger on truck, but expect to have 75k miles by then... I seen comments by others that suggested they were getting around 13'ish mpg when towing (vs 10'ish without).

not so sure it is smart to enhance older truck... a lot of strain on older engine... not to mention cost $5k
also would then have to burn only premium, which may be a problem in some very remote areas...
