2004 Prerunner Reg Cab leaning back driver's side

    I have had the rear shocks and leaf springs replaced but the truck is leaning in the back driver's side like something has given way. The shop said it might the frame or a mounting point. It was leaning before I got the work done. Any ideas?

    Hey Mike. Post a couple of pictures of the lean and of the rear suspension / where the suspension components mount to the frame. We should be able to figure it out once we take a look.

    I'm assuming it is a reputable shop that did the work, with the correct springs/shocks on the correct side?

    Of course, there is the usual driver's side "taco lean" due to battery, gas tank, and driver all on the same side, but given the new components I wonder if there might be something else accounting for it.

    The shop said it *might* be the frame or a mounting point? Sounds like you need a new shop if they couldn't tell you, that's kinda their job...

    Did it lean before you had the springs done?

    Post some pictures from the side on FLAT ground. The other thing is to just start measuring things. Ground to various points on the frame on each side, erc... Also we'll need to varify if the springs were installed correctly, and the right parts, etc...

    along with the front differential, front drive shaft, and half of the transfer case.

    AFAIK, Toyota tried to compensate for this, by installing slightly stiffer springs on the driver-side, front AND rear. Aftermarket springs may not distinguish this, by selling identical pairs of springs, so your 'Taco Lean' could have gotten worse.

    I have this same issue in front, since I replaced my front coils with aftermarket. My DS is about 3/4" lower than the PS. I have recently ordered an adjusting spacer from WheelersOffroad to level it out.

    OP, park your rig on a flat surface (like a garage), and measure the exact difference from left to right.
