I was looking at the Maintenance schedule for the new Tacomas. I noticed, at least on the Canadian schedule, it doesn't list any interval for changing the differential fluids or transfer case fluids. This is my first 4wd vehicle. Is there a normal interval for these items? Strange Toyota doesn't list it.

I emailed Toyota Canada and here is the response.

    Dear Mr. Parker:

Thank you for your recent correspondence.

We would like to take this opportunity to advise that there are no set intervals for changing the differential fluids, transfer case fluids, or manual transmission fluids. They are inspected and topped of if necessary when your required maintenance is performed.

Should you have further inquiries, we kindly suggest speaking with Mr. Gary Alders, Service Manager at Kentville Toyota.

We hope this information is helpful and thank you for taking the time to contact us.

    Sincerely,

    Kim Carter

I was looking at the Toyota.ca maintenance menu. The last year I see it listed is for Tacoma's is for the 2009's. They have all three items to be changed at 64,000km. I guess I'll go with that.

you can find many posts on this. lots of opinions, mostly based on your usage, and if its a new truck also your break-in. you'll see folks changing these fluids starting at 1k miles and going up from there, esp with the diff where some report sludge or particles at the early first change.
