Love that lookout. How easy were those glassworks bedsides to install and put your camper back onto? Looks really nice!

The glassworks bedsides were not hard to install, little bit of sanding and fitting but nothing major. As for the shell, I had to cut the bottom lip off of it in order to mount it back on the bedsides.

I finally ordered and installed a softopper. Install was easy but I had to modify the front clamps since my bedcage runs right next to the factory Uni-strut Channel. I also had to drop the pivot pins to the lowest position to ease the snapping of the snaps. I think the canvas sides need to be about 3/4" - 1" longer which is why I am going to make a new pivot bracket that lowers the overall height of the frame.

I am also considering ditching the factory uni-strut and cutting some steel angle and attaching the aluminum channel to that so I won't have to use the clamps. Ill update the progress.

I'd like to see some tonneau covers too. One of the rolling aluminum covers would be cool or something paint matched.

I am thinking about using plumber's shower liner as a gasket between the shell and the top of the fiberglass bedsides when I get some. Most of the foam products meant for that purpose seem like they don't cushion very well and basically squish away to nothing after the cap is tightened down. The shower liner is tough and thin enough to cut a double layer if needed / wanted for extra cushioning.

Camper shell mounted on new bedsides! Internal bracing and bed cage will be added.

old thread bump...but im looking for some ideas on dust/water/mud control for a truck with a bed cage and a camper shell. anyone use nitrile sheets to surround the shock areas or something similar? searching has come up empty so far.

My idea is to use threaded inserts / riv nuts with shower pan liner:

    https://www.homedepot.com/p/5-ft-x-6-ft-PVC-Shower-Pan-Liner-Kit-41620/100344211

Basically just make a hole for the shock to go through and zip tie it or something to make it tight at the top of the shock and then do a number of threaded inserts around the hole in the bed and use nuts and washers to clamp the pan liner to the bed (on the underside preferably) to keep water from spraying off the wheels into the bed. I haven't made this yet as I don't have a bed cage installed, but I've been giving it some thought for awhile.

I've used that shower pan liner for splash guards in my front wheel wells to replace the old dry rotted factory ones. 3 years and it's held up wonderfully.

My friend uses a shifter boot on his explorer to keep dust out. I don't have a pic of his but I'm sure you get the idea.

That's super close to my idea - it's slicker than my idea if the holes are small enough to cover with the boot, too!

    Lotsa shit.
Gotta question for y’all. I am wondering what the least aggressive fiberglass fenders are out there on the market, that I can also make work with a cap, my bedsides decided to start rusting under the flares, but I’m really wanting to keep the little bit of “stance” I have at the moment.

The Rebel looks like it has a lip that covers the top of the stock bedside. Mine was the same way and it had to be cut off to sit flush on the bedsides. The bed rail mounts did not work right either without cutting off the lip. It’s not perfect but I am happy with how it turned out. Just gotta finally paint my bedsides now haha

Holy crap you cut a lot! Really surprised it still looks about flush with the cab.
