I am interested in putting an aftermarket front bumper on my 2011 dclb. I have an old man emu lift with 887 sport shocks up front. At the time I lifted it I was told if I wanted to add a heavy bumper up front with possibly of a winch I should get 886s.

Can I get away with adding an aluminum front bumper or steel front bumper without having any issues with the 887 sport shocks?

The Pelfreybilt I am considering is about 60-65lbs in aluminum or 105-115 in steel.

I should mention I am also planning on doing rear steel bumper at about 85lbs. I have OME dakars in back.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

You can do this. An aluminum bumper will have minimal effect. A steel bumper will compress the springs more. Adding a winch to either will add to the amount of compression. A steel bumper with a winch isn't recommended on those springs.

Thanks Siesta. I will probably go with aluminum then. That said would a 60lb aluminum front bumper have much effect on ride?

Also curious if I go aluminum if that would allow me to pull off getting a winch at some point?

    Thanks in advance.
