Tailgate Lock

What have you guys done for a tailgate lock? Handle lock that is.
I know there has to be something else besides the expensive "pop n lock."
What's out there?

The Pop n Lock isn't overly expensive IMO ~ I'm not rich ~

ie: I believe the PL5100 fits all the 1st gen Tacoma

Yeah Amazon has the lock for $47. It's just hard to justify fifty bucks for a lock!

 

Granted, that could save your items in the back. But it's just hard to believe that's the only solution for a tailgate lock for all of the Tacoma's in the world.

 

Free solution, break the tailgate handle so it can only be opened with a screw driver.

 

I think if someone wants to get in, they'll have a screw driver or something of the sort. Eh?

$50 for a handle with a lock seems pretty reasonable to me . If you bought a padlock with a screw on gate hinge and rednecked it together it would still be $20 to $30.

 

What about a first gen tundra tailgate handle?
