    New to Tacomas- but not to Toyota trucks- although it has been a while! Our last Toyota truck was a 1988 Toyota 4x4 standard cab short box deluxe, 22RE, 5 spd manual. Head gasket blew while on the hwy and by the time I noticed the damage was done, there was piston slap. So instead of spending anymore time/ money on that under powered 4 cylinder- we instead decided to install a 1991 Ford 5.0L HO V8 with a C4 trans mated to the stock TC by Advanced Adapters. I will try to find some pics of it!

    We pick it up our new Tacoma on Monday.
    2012 Access Cab TRD, Mica brown. Currently has a nice colour matched topper but we will be getting a hard folding toneau for it at some point.

    First of my questions (more to follow I am sure);

    -Tires will soon need to be changed. What are my size options? The truck has stock suspension that we will not be changing anytime soon. Was thinking about going tall n skinny since the truck will rarely see any off-roading. I want good road manners and don't want to rub either.

    -What brands of tires would be best suited for year round four season driving?

    -Would also consider upgrading the wheels too. Just need to find some nice looking, strong, light weight wheels!

    -What are the best hard toneau covers?

    -Would like to put rock sliders on sooner rather than later to combat those door dings! As well as to give better side impact protection.

    -Bed mat options?

    Thanks guys- I am sure I will be adding more questions once we actually have the truck!

    Howdy, and welcome. 265-75-16(265-70-17) fit with stock suspension and no rub and look nice, fill out the wheel wells. Brand is personal preference. I've had several sets of BFG all terrain. A little heavier in lt rating, sacrifice some mpgs for off road traction.
    Scs makes some really nice and rather light weight wheels.
    Can buy the toyota bedmat, sometimes can find on here for sale, or on local craigslist. Also can go somewhere like tractor supply and get their rubber mat and cut to fit.
    Enjoy the truck.

    Norman, thanks for the reply. I will be sure to go check out those wheels.

    gainman... Good to learn who the repost police are right away I guess!

    All kidding aside- I was just excited that we finally bought a Tacoma after a long time looking and wanted to post on the forum. Was going to wait until I had pics but will add those later.
