Does anyone need a crawler project?

 

Not much of a hunter just know a lot of my wife's co workers and such are, only thing I can add if you didn't already know is make sure you limit your scent, so no cologne and any other fragrances you prefer to put on. Get Lots Random urine to put on yourself, I mean a lot.

 

Get yourself a 0 degree bag and you won't have any problems at night.

 

The camper is probably more insulated than the 4runner and with 2 people out well be warmer. 40deg bag still might not be enough, bring some extra blankets or get another bag.

Can also go with a mr heater to help counter the sleeping bag, as getting. A good quality one can get you in several $$$, and the heater will probably have more uses for you.

I'm not a big hunter myself, but have camped a fair amount in some cold ass weather. I agree that getting a warms nights rest is gonna make the rest of the trip much more enjoyable.

I have a Teton Sports sleeping bag and I love it as it keeps me warm at about 20 degrees warmer than it's rated for (rated at 5F, so I'm usually great in 20F+). A mummy style bag will help retain all of your body heat, especially if you stuff the bottom with warmed clothes wrapped around nalgenes filled with warm water.

As for other tips though, I usually wear one good pair of socks, one layer of pajamas pants and a long sleeve shirt/flannel, and a beanie. I usually prefer to wear minimal layers in the bag as I was always told (by my dad, perhaps bro science here?) to let the sleeping bag do it's job in insulation rather than wearing 3 jackets. Bring blankets and throw them over yourself. Being off of the ground in the camper with protect you from the ground absorbing your heat.

Oh lastly, if you wake up freezing and feel the need to pee, get up and go. Do your business then cozy back up quickly. I've been told that getting rid of extra fluids (not in other ways you fucks ) just means there's less for your body to heat up.

 

So rubbing one out won't help keep you warm.

Usually shared body heat also helps keep you warm....maybe combine the two?
