    I have 265 70 16 on right now on my pre runner. I wanna go up 285 75 16 BFG all terrain 2ko ones.. my question is will I be wasting a lot of gas

    Taller, wider, heavier tire. Yeah, you'll use more gas. But, it also depends on your driving style.
    Another option (if you aren't just going for the bro look) is 255/85r16. I can't speak for 285/75r16, but with 255/85r16, I get 17-21mpg (no calculation adjustment for odometer variance). But that is keeping at 65 on the highway without getting too happy with the skinny pedal. The 19+ mpg is usually doing long stretches at 55.

    Round tires
    Weight, width and tread pattern will matter more overall height.

    A taller tire will actually give you a better final gear ratio for highway driving, so if you do a ton of highway over city, get a skinny, lightweight tire and lightweight wheel and it's taller you may get equal or better gas mileage.


    The more aggressive your tread, wider the tire and heavier the wheel/tire the worse your gas mileage as well as acceleration will be. Find your happy medium on the spectrum.

    Yeah I mean I do trails and Highway driving. lift I have on makes my truck look funny. that's why I wanna go with 285 75 16.
