This has been bothering me lately. While driving, I turn the knob to increase volume and it drops to zero. I turn it back up and all is well. It's an intermittent issue and is really annoying.

    Anyone else experience this?

Truck is a 2012 base model with the single disc radio.

    Thanks!

I've got a 2011 and this has been happening for several months. If I slightly pull out the knob when I turn it, it works a little better. I think the solution is a new radio but I will use it this way until it just stops working. It seems to work better in cold weather.

My 2010 started doing this a year ago. The steering controls still work so that's what I have been using. I know one day I will have to get a new head unit.

I've seen this in my mom's 05 Tacoma. The knob was wearing out.

You might be able to fix it by blasting some electronics cleaner behind the knob. If that doesn't work, your cheapest/easiest solution is probably to just find a new headunit on Ebay and replace it. The standard non-touchscreen decks can be found for pretty cheap.

It sucks. I know you said you have the base model. Just so you know the knob on my JBL head unit equally sucks, and exhibits similar behavior.

I end up using the steering wheel volume controls to compensate.

    Stupid fu**ing knob.
