So what happens when you hit a deer at 95KMH? (about 60mph)

I hit one with my 91 ranger doing 65 and all it did was pushed the driver side of the front bumper in about an inch and broke the amber turn signal and I popped my brakes. Drove it an hour home before I realized I lost my brakes. Luckily it was a 5 speed and I just down shifted. Those things were built like tanks compared to new vehicle

Faster than a speeding bug... ITS SUPER DEER!!!

Not sure if that is in jest? I believe this was answered earlier. I.e. deceleration levels ect. Believe me, I am glad they did not deploy. Also I believe the bulk of the deer hit above the sensors which explains the damage. Insurance will look at it this week. I'll let you guys know the outcome...

It's a work in progress. See my build thread.
Agree. The airbags are there to protect the occupants. Hitting a deer is not (and should not) be enough to cause the airbags to deploy, as that would likely cause you to have a more serious accident. If you hit something solid, they will deploy.

Just depends if the insides stay intact.
But you can usually only take them if you're a resident of that state. I hit mine in Ohio but I live in PA so I wasn't able to keep mine.

Pennsylvania turns them into fish food.

Think about that next time you go to the spillway.

Stomach and intestine contests throughout the meat doesn't make for tasty eats.

Road Kill never sounds delicious to me anyway. I leave the road kill to the buzzards and other critters.

    Glad your OK.

No deer in the city for me. But I hear this is becoming a serious problem in other parts of the country due to over population.

My guess is it will be covered, mainly due to the age of the truck. The repair % is likely to still be low to the value.

ARE cap, wade inchannel vent visors, weathertec floor mats, ranch hand grill guard, tuffy security boxes in bed, lockable tailgate handle. Still have stuff that needs to be installed and still have stuff ordered lol.
Deers are getting bad on staten island i think partly from so many houses being built so now they have to go somewhere since they are losing the woods they always stayed in. I wonder how many get hit by boats when they are swimming over from new jersey.

if you have a big bruise on your shoulder from the belt holding tight
while your body decelerated into it, and the airbags don't deploy, you have issues

smacking that deer is no where near enough. picture 18mph sudden crash into a solid wall
that doesn't budge or crumple...and you now have the typical 2016 forces needed to deploy airbag.

used to be much lower but --airbags cause injury-- so there is a tradeoff...activating early and causing more damage than it prevents,
or activating when there is real shit going down and preventing severe injury
that would outweigh the possible deafness and burns from an airbag
