Well it looks like the Pro is gonna get a "Father Figure".....not a Tacoma, but it was the start of it all way back when. Friend of mine is selling his 85 Standard Cab and it looks like it will be coming to my garage. I did my first baja trip in this truck way back when and have been a fan ever since. It does Baja stuff amazing, even at speed, and yet can still crawl the Rubicon. One of the best all around rigs I have seen that is still very street friendly...and it has wing windows!

    • 50 K mi. on full rebuilt 22RE (fuel injection), TRD cam, LC Engineering ceramic header linked to 2.25" custom exhaust and Magnaflow muffler, Odessey Battery (All engine modifications are California Smog legal.)
    • 7" lift using Alcan rear springs, All-Pro extreme travel springs in front with All-Pro Crossover High Steer, New Bilstein long travel shocks on both front and rear custom shock hoops, greaseable shackles.
    • Stock front axle with 5:29's, ARB, Longfields
    • Newer Toyota IFS rear axle conversion (3" wider, 11' drums and thicker axle housing), 5:29's, ARB
    • (5) New 35" Cooper SST MT's on 15x8 Black Rock Type D series 909 alloy rims.
    • Marlin built Ultimate Crawler with 2:28 gears in the dual case and 4:7 gears in the rebuilt transfer case. (225:1 low range) CV driveshafts F & R.
    • Custom rear receiver bumper. Custom tube rocker guards and customized Smitty-Built front bumper with Warn 8000i winch, LED bar and "D" rings
    • On-board air with both ARB compressor and Extreme Air (5.0 cfm@0psi) compressors plumbed to Currie 2.5 gallon air tank
    • Custom tube doors with paddle handle latches (no rattles)
    • 4 undercarriage rock lights.
    • Color matched Gem Sport Camper Shell.
    • Perfect Body: New professional stock color white acrylic enamel paint job. No dents, no scratches, no rust. Bushwacker Fender Flares
    • Beautiful SR5 interior with p/s, a/c, tachometer, stereo, quartz clock, map lights, sliding rear window, Toyota SR5 Sport Bucket Seats from a '94 with no stains or tears. New TRD shifter knob, Uniden CB with roof mount antenna.

If this works out it means the FJ40 will go away...she has been good to me for almost 30 years, but I do much more all around stuff now and the 40 is pretty much a Rock Rig.......

One of our club members built this from a very clean stock rig about 15 years ago...he moved to San Diego and ended up selling it to an old guy who never drove it. Bought it back, did a bunch of refresh stuff to it and now is looking at a 4 door Jeep so the Toy is on the block once again. I almost bought it last time but wasn't sure I was ready to sell my 40.....it's been a couple of years and the 40 pretty much just sits as it is a Rock Rig and I do more overland stuff now. Figured if I passed it up this time I'd be kicking myself once again....only thing I don't love about this truck is the front bumper, though it does give it the Back to the Future look so it may stay. Still working out the logistics to get it from San Diego to up here in the mountains.....looks like he will meet me in Burbank so I can fly down and drive back the same day. It would be a bit of a haul to fly to San Diego and then drive back from there.....

That is one sharp ass clean rig......something that you just do not see around here by me, not since the years they were built that is. That is just too cool of a truck to turn away from especially a second time.
Where your at....up in the mountains? Where is that at exactly?

It is a done deal! Fly down south to pick her up on the 12th... As to in the mountains, I'm in the Sierra's about 1/2 way between Sacramento and South Lake Tahoe at about 3000ft. elevation.

This one will be going away next spring when I get her cleaned up....had her for almost 30 years so hard to let it go, but times have changed and I do very little true rock crawling anymore....a very streetable rig, but not set up for the overland type stuff I do now...

Thanks...I've had a crush on this truck since I first went to Baja in her about 15 years ago...I know the guy who owns / built it as he used to be in our 4wd club...he's one of those "Anal Types" when it comes to vehicles so it is definitely a one of a kind truck. We be lucky here in Cali as they don't rust away like they do in your area. My FJ 40 is pushing 50 and still pretty much rust free.

Yeah lucky you for sure. You can make a car last like that here so long as it's stored away for the winter from November-April.

Was just looking at my service history on my truck.

25k oil change on June 2015
30k oil change on August 2016

Current mileage 33,100 as of December 2016

Starting to wonder if I should sell it and pick up an older Tacoma lol.

Nice. I have a 2013 BAJA dcsb, bought it brand new off the lot when it was 4 days old, just 8 days after build date. Drove 3.5 hours one way to get it.
