TRD Pro wheels on a 2016 Limited?

Hi,

I'm new here so go gentle on me! I did some searching and haven't found an easy answer to this so figured I'd make a new post. If there's an easy reference site / post out there to answer my questions, please let me know so I'll keep the dumb requests to a minimum!

I just bought a 2016 Limited with the 18" rims. I'd like to put a set of black TRD Pro rims on (The 4Runner style, I believe the part number is PTR20-35110. According to my wheels are 18x7.5 with somewhere between 25-30mm offset. The TRD Pros are 17x8 with a 4mm offset. For tires I do a lot of highway driving so I'm not looking for anything crazy aggressive - Just a bit meaner and taller than the stock low-profile setup I currently have. but before I look into tires, I want to know if the TRD wheels will fit on my otherwise stock truck. Can somebody let me know what my options are? Thanks!

Cool, thanks! Will they stick out further than my stock wheels or does the difference in offset make up for that? And from what I've read I can re-use the lugnuts and TPMS sensors, right?

 

You can reuse lugs and tpms. Discount tires charged me $5 per wheel to swap over..they will look great on a Limited. Might as well beef up the tire at least a little too. 265/70R17 KO2's is what I'm running. May go up another size depending on the level I do.

42607-06030? I ask because I'm getting my 265/70R17 KO2's installed tomorrow, and just picked up those TPMS sensors that I ordered from ebtoyotaparts. They didn't have the fit kit so I headed to another dealer and it was there that I found that these 4Runner rims use different TPMS sensors. Either 42607-33021 or 42607-33011. he said that the ones I got should fit, but he can't tell for sure. I have an appointment at Sear's tomorrow (really cheap thanks to black friday!) and am nervous that these sensors won't fit. But based on your post I don't have anything to worry about.

 

Sadly I don't know the part numbers. Did you call Sears and talk to the tire crew? I spoke with Discount tires on the phone before going in to make sure they could swap, and they told me of the small charge ($5 each totaled at $20)..and that it's super easy. Attached is a photo of my bill and what it says. But they reused stock and I didn't have to contact Toyota and re-register or anything. Hope this helps..
And technically my TRD Pro wheels are mainly considered 4Runner wheels (at least I think so) but the new rims weren't an issue at all.

 

Thanks for the info - I spoke with Sears and they just said to get the TPMS sensors ahead of time, but that was it. Since I'm bringing my own wheels it's kind of on me to make sure they fit. What were your stock wheels? You've got a 2017 Sport, right? From what I had found, all 2016+ Tacomas used the same TPMS sensors, so it sounds like they will work.

 

Yup. 2017 Sport. I read the same thing but didn't want to quote that. I'm like junior in high school with automotive stuff..I noodle all the time on my trucks/4runners, but I really have no clue what the hell im doing a fair amount of the time!

Ha, I've been doing random mechanical stuff since I was 12 but it doesn't mean that I'm any good. This TPMS journey has been a whole new source of stress! Hopefully it will go great tomorrow and I'll be back with pics.

 

I did the same thing btw. I had my stock truck and showed up with TRD pro rims, and bought KO2s to put on them..they pulled the old wheel set, broke the bead to get the sensors, then give me back my wheels and tires mounted (which I sold) and I had my new wheel/tire/tpms on my truck and ready to roll.
