My 96 was acting like it was being choked to death. It cranks right up and goes to about 2k then dies.
I crank it and hold the rpm at 1500 it is smooth. When I let off the gas it diesels for a few seconds and dies. I was trying to figure it out when my Bro-in-law pulled up. The hose running from the air filter to the top of the engine was dry rotted. Runs smooth and steady now.

However, I now have a list of things to fix on it. I believe I have caught the bug. I can't get it off my mind.

On a positive note- this place is stinking awesome. I have read some great posts on here.

When I got the truck from my dad, the center console top was dry rotted and cracked. Putting you forearm on it resulted in painful sharp plastic splinters.

I pulled it off and left it open topped. I remembered I had some old weight bench pads in my shed from a weider bench I scrapped 8 years ago...the smallest one fits perfect and is almost the same color. Back in business.

This is how the sickness starts. Next thing you know, you'll be swapping in portal axles and a 1000 HP twin turbo 2JZ.
