Start with 8.4 open rear end, remove, replace with elocker, add wiring, Elocker anytime..

I found a decent deal on a complete elocker rear end from an 05 with similar mileage to my truck ~80k so I jumped on it. The swap was super easy took about a day moving pretty slow. The longest part was swapping over all the brake components and lines being careful to not strip or damage anything. I got a complete elocker harness from Off Road Solutions which simplified the process.IMG_2521.jpg IMG_2523.jpg IMG_2533.jpg IMG_2534.jpg IMG_2536.jpg

I have the OEM switch in one of the blanks, I'm a fan of keeping everything as factory as possible hence why I didn't go with an ARB. Power is wired to the switch and locker so it can be engaged/disengaged whenever. Since I started with an sr5 prerunner the truck doesn't even know the locker is there, best Elocker anytime mod ever:burnrubber:

It was in the same range as a full ARB setup including what the labor would have been to set up the rear end.

Kinda figured that. It's impossible to find an e-locker rear end local though.

Yeah, shipped from Texas to CA... twice, not cheap. The company sent the wrong axle to me the first time they paid for shipping back and the new one to me.

My 8.4" complete rear end is available as well now if anyone needs one, not interested in shipping after the last ordeal..

Doesn't the 2WD TRD Off-Road with the factory locker give you the option to use the locker "anytime?"

You have to be going slow to engage it but after that it stays locked until you turn if off, no?

Yeah I'm not too sure on that. The main reason why its the best elocker mod is that there is actually a locker there compared to none lol

^ 2wd (prerunner) aint got no 4 low options haha

Yes on the 2wd prerunner you can put it in anytime, just have to be under 5mph for it to engage, then let the drifting commence.

I have a 4x4 so i have a switch to allow me to put it in 2HI or 4HI.... i tested it the other day in 2HI in an empty parking lot in the middle of the rain.... had to make sure it spun both tires at the same rate via a few umm, spinning moves.
