    Howdy All,

I have finally decided to pull the trigger on a new car, and will be trading in my 2012 White Tacoma TRD-Off Road Prerunner. Long story short, I picked up my Tacoma in May of 2012 from Thousand Oaks Toyota in SoCal with 4mi on the odometer. It has been an amazing truck! I passed 54k miles just the other week.

I have to say, I truly am going to miss this truck. I purchased it with the JBL stereo - which is AMAZING and worth every penny - along with a TRD air filter and TRD catback exhaust. Id say over the lifetime of my ownership I achieved about 16-18mpg commuting in the city. Went through 2 sets of tires, and kept everything completely stock (besides dealer installed accessories).

I towed everything from UHAUL trailers to jet skis, and even one time latched up a 2014 malibu wake setter and launched it, along with a smaller ski nautique slalom boat. Tons of fun with this truck and I know the 2nd owner will love it.

Reasons I am trading - Ive worked very hard and finally have the budget to afford something a little bit more fun... a 2016 Subaru WRX STI in World Rally Blue. Looking very forward to picking it up! Catch me on the subaru forums ;)

So if anyone is in the market for a Taco that was treated like gold, find it on the lot at Big Two Toyota here in Chandler, AZ!

    See you at the top!

    Congrats on your new Subaru!
One of the mods (Forerunner) just upgraded his stable with a 2016 Subaru.
I think it is the same car!
Sounds like you really liked your truck & used it well...
you don't have to leave just because bought the subie...
    Enjoy your new ride.

    Thanks for the support guys!

ForeRunner - mine is in World Rally Blue :) I guess we'll have to run the STI squad here on Tacomaworld lol. Any mods yet? I'll be ordering my RallyArmor mud flaps, the Nameless 3.5in muffler delete as well as a couple of other bits in pieces within the next few weeks. Planning to hold off on stage 1+ only because I need reliability and warranty lol, you know how the ringland stories go. Will be waiting until the 60k is up before I do anything major.

    Congrats!

Nothing planned right now aside from tint and and air filter. I've modded nearly every car I've owned and I want something that's fun, and has some bit of luxury to it. I really like the limited option with the low profile trunk lip vs. the big wing. It's an STI but doesn't look it until you get up on it.

Love'em! A friend had a 2003 WRX STI. It was a BLAST to drive.

Very nice! I picked up the Base as I preferred the dark gunmetal/black Enkei wheels over the Limited BBS. Also got the wing :)

How do you like the HK stereo? I optioned the keyless/HK/nav without actually hearing the sound system, as my local dealer did not have any on the lot with it. Ive heard great reviews, hoping its on the same or a relative level as my JBL system that came with the stereo upgrade in my Tacoma.

That would be my choice, too. Congrats!

I went the other route, I did the wheels with the dark metallic gray and I prefer the trunk lip over the wing since it looks like any other saloon on the road. I'd prefer to avoid every other fast and furious wannabe that seems to come out of the woodwork. I'm going to see about tint this weekend. If you liked the JBL you'll like the HK system, I was playing around with it last night and for a stock system I thought it sounded really good

Hey guys, thought I would throw in an update so far on the Subie:

Loving the car, having so much fun daily driving this thing. Its a little bit more efficient than the Tacoma, but about the same as it was if I am doing some spirited driving - which is almost every time I drive lol. Loving the 6mt!! Looking back I wish I would have gotten the Tacoma in stick. Tons of fun.

Sold the Tacoma last week, and man was it hard to say goodbye. I will always love that truck. I saved the vin number incase one day I decide that I want to track it down and buy it back lol. Here are some pics of the Subie, her name is Molly:

    Tell me more abut Subaru.

My wife is due a new ride. Her 10 y/o Accord has served us well. She wants an SUV but doesn't want domething "too truck like". (Her words)
The Outback has caught her eye.
We've only had Honda and Toyota imports. And don't know much about the Subie's.

You should Google Subaru Outbacks and see. We're looking at one for the woman when her car is dead, and they've had a lot of issues. Supposed to be worked out now but last I heard, still not.

That's great OP! Be sure to join NASIOC as well as whatever your local subie forum happens to be called. I have some experience with the NASIOC members and they are a fantastic bunch, they'll certainly look after ya! Enjoy the STI, it's one hell of a fun car. Be sure to get stainless exhaust, larger fuel injectors, and some pro-tuning done to that monster of a machine!:D

    I went the opposite direction.

    07 WRX > 08 Forester XT (totaled) > 05 Legacy GT Wagon > 15 ACLB Tacoma

All with manual transmissions. I miss the forced induction, but LOVE the ability throw whatever I wish in the back and to haul my toys around. Enjoy your new vehicle, very jealous!

I wanted a 5 door when we moved back to the states, couldn't find any within 100 miles and wife ended up with a '15 Forester. The 14mpg winter mileage in the Taco is seriously making me consider trading it in..

Read my posts back on this thread and laughed.

Sold the STI last week and got into a '17 Off Road 4x4 DCSB.

In short, the Subie was a ton of fun to drive. I will always love that car. I miss it dearly. However I missed having a tacoma more than I enjoyed owning the STI. Plus, it was super high maintenance and with how rough I am on my things I needed something that was more of a brute.

Stoked to be back on TacomaWorld. Let the mods begin. :)
