Duratrac vs KO2 on 3rd Gen?

If you want snow traction Duratracs are the correct option for certain. they sometimes feel magic in the snow.

 

Get the Cooper S/T Maxx and be happy forever.

So far so good with the bro ko. Mind you I haven't had any snow days. But they seen good in the coldish rain and they seem pretty quiet. They are three peaked rated so the insurance companies gave me a discount.

 

Had both. Disliked both in winter and on wet greasy roads.

Cooper ST Maxx if you want to look good and have good hwy manners and off-road capabilities.
Michelin Defender LTX if you want the best overall truck tire and are ok with having responsible looking tires.

my main deciding factor was 90% looks,
i think the duratrac's look WAY better.

also in c load there lighter so that's less rotational mass.
biggest place to make a difference in weight.

wish they made them in 255/85/16

When it comes to true snow... (Mountain boy here.. Alaska, PA, and WV) The Duratraks are the winner here, They have a more snow suitable tread patterd, better sidewall lugs and siping.

But if OP wants a real tire, duratracs/stt max/falken AT3 all the way.

 

I have run the Cooper AT/P (can only get them on discount tire direct) and they were a lot cheaper then the Goodyears, and did pretty well in WV snow. Fairly aggressive AT with good road manners. I ran them on my Ranger.

 

im running ko2's. They did ok in mud. self cleaning doesnt really work till your on a flatter surface. Extremely quiet tho!

 

Northern Ontario winters and I run Duratracs. they are awesome in snow. Went with the light truck 10ply for the winter tire rating with the mountain snowflake. Very happy with them.

 

Thanks for all of the replies. I'll probably end up going Duratrac as I had them before and had no complaints. They can be a bit noisy, but it's really not that bad. It's worth it for how great they perform in the snow. Will probably hang on the tires that came from the factory as well in case I feel like having a quieter tire in the summer. Anyone have pics of their 3rd gen with Duratracs?

 

I just this week installed DuraTracs on my 3rd gen Sport, on 17" TRD Pro rims. Nothing against the KO2s, which are great, but I prefer the DuraTrac tire. I've been running them for years on various vehicles.

 

I have the ko2 and I like it alot. Much better than stock tires. I havent heard anyone talking about or seeing much nitto but I really like the nittos I have in the past. I only have about 2k miles on my Ko2 but I wonder how many miles they will last. They seem soft

 

I actually now live in Canada, that frozen tundra to the north of ya.

 

Would you run Duratracs over dedicated snow tires like Blizzaks?
