I agree, @WileECoyote, I have never seen or heard of anyone splicing coax cable. If you need more length, that barrel connector would do the trick.

I would add that transmitting on those frequencies with anything but an FRS/GMRS radio is illegal, unless it's an actual emergency. With that said, I have them programmed in my radio for just such an emergency.

I think you are SOL, I had to get 25' in order to get into the cab of my DCLB. I was planning to document it with photos, but I wanted to have the CB installed for my trip back home for thanksgiving.

Just off the lot. Need some help here :)

Which antenna are you using for your Ham setup? Where did you mount it? Love the above-the-mirror mount for the faceplate. Can you tell me where you got the mount for it?

Local installer custom made the mount. It slides up into the headliner and was them screwed in by removing the sunglass holder. I'm using a Larsen antenna mounted to a hood mount ditch light bracket!

Can someone post a few pictures and description or a link that shows routing for the coax cable. I'm mounting my antenna at the back driver side of the bed and my radio near the passenger seat.

I've got a similar issue! Got to route from rear drivers side of the bed to the passenger front seat grommet and still have enough cable to get to the radio. Main concern is staying away from the exhaust pipe with the coax.

At the coast today, so the pictures suck as bad as the weather.

    Here's the @C4 Fabrication mount:

Full antenna view. Canopy is due in a week or so. I'll get a better picture of it with a Leer when it comes:

Mounting the radio at the back of the console got in the way of folding the back seats, so I replaced the factory mount with a couple of hinges and drilled the top of the hole out so I could drop the radio in without totally removing the mounting screws. Easy in and out and fold the hinges to make room for the seat.

    With radio mounted:

Now hit the road and observe radio being used for its intended use, at least as far as Floyd is concerned:

in the center console if you lift up the rubber thing on the bottom, i noticed there is a bracket with a couple bolts... would i remove those to remove the center console to run the coax cable to the rear and power to the battery?

im just not sure how some of you run your cables from the center console.

any help or photos would be greatly appreciated, im planning on installing my cb this weekend.

I'm limited to where I can install my antenna. I want to install it at the driver's back corner of the truck using this mount:

I have a cap, so I'm wondering what length antenna I should go with, a 3' or 4' Firestick ?

... and as to what strength spring, medium or heavy?

... and what brand is a good quality co-ax?

I've seen Road Pro stuff on amabomb, but... ???

You want the antenna to be "above" any "structure" as much as possible!!! I forget the %, but I believe a half or more of the full length of the antenna above a "structure". From the picture, I would do a 4ft antenna.

Regarding the spring, it all depends on the length of the antenna? For a 4ft, I would, my humble opinion, go with a heavy duty! GET STAINLESS!!! TRUST ON THAT!!! If you go medium, your whip will be swinging a bit too much, in my humble opinion. Some people like that look though?! :notsure:

Hope this helps a little?:fistbump:
