I double-double checked your work. It looks legit. Maybe give Linear Logic a call. They are really good at customer support.

did you also enable TF2? What does it say on the main screen when you choose to display TF1 and/or TF2?

Did anyone get the FLV (fuel level %) to work? I wanted to see if it would resolve lower than the 0 miles to go since no one is putting near 21 gallons.

Tried both. Both show a big fat blank.

Could there be some other setting that might be affecting me? Something like PIDS all vs PIDS supported? Update rate? (I think I have just about tried every permutation.)

I'll mess with it a little more then contact Linear Logic. I'm just worried Toyota changed something. I probably got the most recently built truck possible (ordered from San Antonio to the distrubution center in Houston to the 'burbs). I also have one of the oldest SGIIs (like 10 yrs???).

Not to get too far off topic; but...

How is your SGII MPG comparing to your truck MPG? I am nowhere near running through my first tank; but, over a couple 20 minute trips my SGII is reading ~15% higher MPG. (It read 5-7% too high on my 2002.) I'll try lowering the fuel cuttoff level.

The SGII needs to be adjusted to the vehicle, so if you are on your first tank, you really can't have it adjusted properly. You need the fill-up information after the first tank to adjust the "fudge factor" (they use a different word) so your SGII more closely matches your actuals. On my last car, a tank was about 10 gallons and it was usually within +/- 0.1 gallons for the estimated total fuel burn (which is how MPG is calculated). Significantly different driving scenarios or different gas stations could affect the results, but I don't think it was ever more than 0.3 gallons off.

I'm asking what your "fudge factor" was. My 2002 was 5-7%. Are you saying your car was 1-3% (0.1-0.3 in 10)?

Since both the SGII and the truck tell me the trip mileage, I can compare them same as a tank comparison. With zero "fudge factor" my SGII is ~15% high. That seems unreasonable to me.

    Long version:
SG manual says "if SG improperly detects fuel cutoff, then you may see... 9999 MPG...". This seems an odd statement to me... If the fuel is cut off while moving, the MPG is basically infinite; so, 9999 is as close as could be displayed.
Anyway, if the SG is saying the fuel is off when it is not then it would read MPGs too high. My trips have been lots of stop & go so I do see 9999 on coastdown. I would not expect to see 9999 on the hwy. So, if hwy trip MPGs match while city do not; then, the fuel cutoff error is primarily to blame. I'm going to lower mine from 24 to 21 or less and see.
Maybe there should be a 3rd gen SG thread.

The fudge factor on my other car was about 14%, so 15% high seems within the range of reasonable. You really can't tell until you've run a tank of gas. The fuel cut threshold will make a difference, but you should not be using that to make gross adjustments to the overall mileage. But, there doesn't seem to be a lot of info on SGII's in 3rd gens, so it's possible there's something funky because of the dual injector setup, but I don't know that's the case. I guess what I'm saying is to run this first tank of gas, make the gross fudge factor adjustment and then see where you end up on subsequent tanks before you try to compensate out 15% difference using the fuel-cut threshold.

That said, you can obviously do whatever you want.

I haven't even calibrated the fuel burn fudge factor on the truck since I don't use that feature. I just use the truck's MPG display and then at fill-up I use Fuelly for accuracy and trending.

    Damn! Okay, thanks.

SG says fuel cutoff should be about 4+ the minimum throttle %. Mine shows 17 when it is off. (I'm not going to go warm it up right now to see if it goes any lower.) I'll see if 21 does anything different or if TPS goes below 17. (My gen1 went to 14, I think.)

I also wondered about D4S and Atkinson WRT SG. I'll find out. Houston to Vegas and back in a couple weeks.

TL;DR: SG fuel cutoff setting should probably be set at 15 for 2GR-FKS.

Looks like the throttle goes down as low as 14%. With the SG fuel cutoff set at 15 you will still occasionally get 9999 mpg. If you set it to 14 you probably won't get 9999. Lowering this setting to 14 does seem to have reduced the SG mpg error from ~15% to ~10% in my 10 mile city trips. But, if this engine does cut the fuel; then, it probably needs to be set at 15 to account for it. For example, with the cutoff at 14, moderate engine braking causes the SG MPG to go way down which would indicate the SG is not factoring in any fuel cutoff. So, it looks like 14 would give a massive error while engine braking down a long steep grade. (This is all rather preliminary due to my limited testing and lack of gradients here.)

EDIT: Now I think it should be set at 1. See post #119.

tacoma doesn't cut fuel 100%, ever.

if it did it would be able to carry PZEV status and sticker.

Can you provide a source for that statement?

First, PZEV requires a lot more than fuel cut off.

Second, the 2GR-FSE (with D-4S) does cut fuel... why wouldn't the FKS?

Do users of the ScangageII leave this connected to the Third Gen trucks all the time without getting any alarms or ods codes etc. ?

Thanks, I have one coming this week . I am really looking forward to monitoring the trans temps. I want to compare using D and the S modes . Then CC to no CC . From what I have read the trans torque converter does not lock up in S mode .

After I set mine back to 15 I didn't get 9999 anymore as expected. Raised it some more and still didn't get 9999. Did some more driving today and the 9999 came back. This time I got 9999 with the fuel cutoff setting all the way down to _1_ just on level coast down. Hmm.

This suggests to me that the engine does cut fuel; but, only if certain conditions are met. Perhaps the conditions are emissions related (e.g. the catalyst needs to be hot)?

TL;DR: Now I think the most appropriate cuttoff setting may be 1 and/or that the SG is just not sophisticated enough to approximate fuel use of 2GR-FKS at no load.

is this how some of you guys are checking your transmission temp level? if so, what temp did you guys let the scan gauge get up to?
