    A thing or two...
I just bought a set of Winjet fog lights for my truck . I want to wire them, so they behave like factory fogs. I only want to be able to turn them on when the headlights are on, and I want them to go off when I turn on the high beams . Is there a wire under the dashboard that I can tap into to function the relay that will get me this?

    Thanks

If you wire fog lights with relay like normal and then tap into the low beam instead of battery for plug 30 that would work I think?

    No.
If you use the low beam tap on pin 86 and pin 85 to switch, then switch to ground, that would get OFF when HIGH beams are selected.

Thanks for the suggestions. While technically I could tap into the right wire to do this under the dash, finding the right wire would be a major PITA. From what I've been able to figure out from looking at wiring diagrams, the wiring for the headlights goes straight from the switch on the steering wheel to the fuse/relay box under the hood. Everything under the dash is too well wrapped/loomed to get at easily.

I got the lights mounted and mounted/wired the relay this afternoon. I also got the lower dash pulled apart, so I could have a look at things. My plan to get the functionality that I want is to run an extra wire through the firewall. Normally, just the wire from the fog light switch to the relay would go through, but I'm going to run a second wire that will provide power to the switch. I'm going to use a fuse tap on one of the headlight low beam fuses to supply 12 volts to the fog light switch instead of pulling it from under the dash.

From looking at the wiring diagrams, I figured out where the factory fuse and relay would have been in the fuse/relay box under the hood. Unfortunately, none of that wiring exists as an unused portion of the stock wire harness. The contacts aren't even there for the fuse and relay.

@caribe makaira Thanks for the picture, but I found those drawings online already and in my Hayne's manual. The edit that you made is more or less how I'll be wiring the switch/relay. The way that the kit is wired it will come off the headlight fuse to the switch. Then the other side of the switch runs to the relay coil, and the other side of the coil is at ground.

It's better to switch on the ground side instead of the hot side, but it is what it is unless I redo the wire harness that came with the kit, which I don't want to do right now.
