my tacoma feels like I get rear ended when I stop rather hard. A second or two after coming to an abrupt stop my truck feels like I have gotten rear ended. What could cause this problem? I'm guessing the transmission. I also found a small drop of oil near the drive shaft and transmission connection

That rear seal is known to leak.

The thuds u feel is axle wrap... your rear leafpack is weak.

Get an add a leaf, or a new leafpack and it should fix it.

I'm new to suspension issues. Do you mean the lead springs? I took a look and did notice one side has more spacing than the other

    Leaf springs in the rear.

Urs probably look like they are frowning right?

    Should have a positive arch.

Yeah, ur best bet is a new leafpack then... if flat, an add a leaf may buy some time but if ur in the negative, u may need a new pack instead.

do you haul on a regular basis?
