How is the dust supposed to settle on the parts with all this commotion going on?

BTW Scott, has the shelving been built to seismic standards? Are the parts tied down? Would not want to loose the valuable investment.

Probably not. The shelves are "built" from other Tacoma parts for maximum space-saving efficiency.

My region is free of seismic hazards, which are primarily in the mountain ranges to the east and west. Not having to comply with seismic codes helps me buy more parts that I have no time to install.

so its landslides and liquifaction you're exposed to. Your parts will become part of an archaeology dig some day. Wonder what the archaeologists and historians will surmise of your culture?

Actually, no. The size of this valley is, well, the nation's breadbasket. Underneath the top layers of friable soil are significant areas of hardpan and then extensive clay lenses. In fact, groundwater is pumped so heavily that areas of the valley have problematic historical subsidence. No , not sink holes. If you are interested, look up USGS Central Valley Subsidence. I'd have to drive 30 minutes dead west just to get in the way of a slope of sufficient grade to harass me in some manner. The only quake I have ever felt here was a 5.5 magnitude in the Sierra 70 miles northeast. It was late at night and I was sitting still at my computer, typing something about "they are always banned in pairs, burn them all! Ban Kraft Dinna too!" when I thought the cat rubbed against the chair. I looked down, and their was no cat. Then, from bed in the other room, said "did you feel something?"

I'd rather deal with our hurricanes.

Granted, I don't live in an area that's routinely hurricane gang-banged like Louisiana and Florida.

Some stuff. Not a lot, just some.
I felt the 6.9 in 1989 while seated at the dinner table in Rancho Cordova.
