I just bought a 2009 tacoma doublecab. The rpms seem to be high on the highway; near 3000 at 65 mph. Is there an overdrive on and off button I am missing? I road in a tundra and they were under 2000 at that speed.

RPMs should be around 2100 at 65mph, sounds like you're in 4, not D

885x coils on 5100s. SPC upper a-arms 255/85/16 bighorns, 12k lb reciever mount rear winch,CBI offroad moab bumper,8k lb warn front winch, swaybar delete, spidertrax, icon minipacks, custom dog box, husky liners
My 2015 struggles to pull 75mph in fifth gear. Most of the time I get mad and leave it in 4th. Any type of slight uphill and its down in fourth anyway. 33 inch tires

Trade it for a manual ?

I personally hate all automatic transmissions.

The Tundra is geared that way because it has a huge V8 with more torque down low. Your V6 needs a few more revs to keep pace. But I agree with the above statement, sounds like you were really in 4th and noth 5th. My truck drops into 5th gear once I hit ~35mph on a smooth road. So I'm not sure what you're doing on the highway to keep it in 4th unless you have it in 4 and not D.

What size are your tires, any mods, has the truck been regeared.

I love this site. Duh moment for me. I was sliding the shift knob to the left all the time thinking it was suppose to be there. Read the book and moved it to drive as suggested. Wow what a difference. exact RPM's as described. Wonder what else I am missing. Better read the whole book. Thank you all very much.
