Tldr: dealer completes 5,000 mile service. Got tranny software update, super improved shifting.

Just went in this weekend for the first service. Not sure if it's just my dealer or what but I had to schedule an appointment. Normally not a negative at all but something I wasn't pepared for when I stopped in a few weeks ago when I had some spare time.

Anywho, all it is at 5k is basically a fluid check and tire rotation. I mentioned concerns about the tranny shifting somewhat aggressively and hunting gears sometimes. Also mentioned a thunk after stopping sometimes (research here and previous experience tells me this may be a lack of sufficient grease on the drive shaft). Was told by service tech everything is operating normal (this is a drop off) but they would take a look.

About a hour later I get the call truck was ready, message said there was a software update for the shifting that "didn't really address any of the concerns I noted" but they had performed the update just in case.

Went to pick up, service was crazy busy so I just grabbed my keys and left. Immediately could tell the truck was MUCH smoother through the gears. Short of flooring it most times it will stay in one gear while accelerating until abnormal upshift occurs. I still have the buzz around 2200 rpms which I assume is unrelated. The update definitely makes driving the truck more enjoyable, although I guess this could be subjective. I can see how this would be a perceived loss of power, however when in higher rpms it goes plenty fast. It kind of feels like a turbo kicks in around 3500 rpms, this was also true before the update.

Haven't driven enough to check the axle wrap issues, probably will just have to crawl under and add some lube.

Side note, they set my toes pressure back up at 39 instead of 35. Oddly enough it seems to ride a bit better.

Hope this is useful. Not a whole lot of technical info but it is what it is.
