    Howdy TW crew! Here's the quick of it -

    The Bits
    OME BP51 front/rear
    NEW* Hilux Dakar leafs (isolators between each leaf + beefier payload)
    CBI Bushmaster 2.0 w/ Tire Carrier

    The Install



    The Review

    After 3 months, let's talk BP 51 -

    PROS > OME dependability. Custom rebound and compression options. Beefed up payload. No more squeak. Smooth install. Super plush ride. +/- 0.5" ride height over OME Sport Package (every application is different). A solid dual sport application.

    CONS > Still thinking...

    As you'll see from our videos, we normally run with a canopy, RTT and a full drawer system (the cap was actually removed tonight, its for sale if you're interested!). During our 3 month, the Tacoma was fully loaded.

    The testing environment is 4 miles of heavy crush/run gravel, wash boards and dirt PLUS 25 miles of pavement every day; its a commuter when we're not exploring. The front coilover BPs came preloaded for weight - at least ours did, and both the front and back were dialed in to identical compression and rebound settings.

    It took me 3 days of adjusting before I honed in on my ideal comfort. I adjusted the shocks on opposite ends of the rebound/compression spectrum and drove my commute the same each day. Testing at these suspensions extremes helped me understand the application more thoroughly.

    As of now I'm set at 3 clicks from LOW compression and 4 sets from LOW rebound.

    What does it feel like? On the pavement > sporty and confident in turns, like an appropriately trimmed boat in choppy water. On 4 mile daily gravel/dirt drive > like I'm running at 22PSI on OME Sports riding heavy.

    Best Advice: Play with the system when you get it and tune it in; that's the idea!

    Now for the NEW Hilux Dakars! Squeak no more my friends AND payload, oh my! Put these on the shop floor beside the previous Dakar version and the difference is noticeable. At full load and 40K miles, my previous Dakars were only slightly raked. And with the NEW Hilux Dakars spring pack? I'm not sure I could overload the Tacoma now.

    Paired with the BP51s, the new Hilux Darkar spring pack is ridiculously smooth. What about no weight? I couldn't tell a difference. Nothing harsh, but I could stand to adjust the rebound 1 click LOW.

    After 3 months, now let's talk CBI Bushmaster 2.0 -

    PROS > Uber stout, no more rear tire wobble. Confidently add some extra weight to the tire swing - it's beefy. Powder coating is top notch. Well thought out pre-drilling for accessories. Clearance (two thumbs up). No parts missing. New table design, no more wing nut!!!

    CONS > No thorough instructions - still some guessing.

    Cutting the fenders didn't bother me and lack of detailed instructions increased the install time a bit but its not moving now! Everything lined up well. We had to make two cuts. First cut was super close but we needed to dial in our lines with a second cut.

    Don't remove your fenders flares OR you'll break shit. I was super careful and 30% of my clips broke AND I broke part of parts inside the fender flares. You can drill for the fender support brackets w/o remove the flares.

    Check the bearings for the swing arm. Two are the same inner diameter and 1 is different. Look at the bumper and you'll see why this is important.

    The new table design is super solid. No more piano hinge. I'm skeptical of the upper clips, but they are adjustable. I've got one clip giving me problems on my rough driveway, but CBI sent spares if they need to be replaced. Oh, don't forget to tuck your cables in behind the table when you fold it up or you'll scratch your tailgate - OOPS.

    The bumper looks to be pre-drilled for a camera bracket but I already had camera relocation bracket from Pelfreybilt for backup camera. I just drilled two new holes and wished it well. I've got a great view w/o seeing much of the rear tire or Hi Lift jack.

    OH! Remember to Loc Tite the ball on the swing arm pin; it'll fall off if you don't ;-)

    Best advice: Take your time with the install, don't rush it AND share your experience here on TW so others can learn your tips/tricks.

    Ive been pretty dead set on the BP 51 system, everyone says run Fox or King but for me that is over kill. As far as the shocks go on the BP 51, do these need rebuilt often like the other name brand "race" shocks?

    I haven't run Fox or Kings but I can't imagine them performing better than BPs. BPs aren't long travel shocks; that pretty much draws the line.

    Rebuild? ARB mentioned BPs are rebuildable and they wont require servicing frequencing like competitors.

    Ok, here you go. The part number for the leaf springs is EL091R. They need 4x omeu53b, and 4 x omesb98 spring bushing kits.

    Great post! I'm leaning heavily towards the BP-51 in the spring. That looks like one hell of a rake with those higher Dakar springs too. Can you get some measurements on the front to back rake since between the high clearance rear and the slope of the ground in that pic it may look worse than it actually is.

    The rake is no greater than stock rake. It's the slope of the parking lot I was in. Although we don't have details to share, there will be a bunch of weight in the back of this truck next year AND the rear will not likely squat much. They aren't higher springs, they just have a larger payload capacity.

    My BP 51 kit arrives this friday, super excited about it. I am 90 percent positive my leafs coming are the old CS047R Dakar pack, I'll be interested in seeing if my vendor would swap.

    How was the install? I have never done a suspension overhaul but have a ship with lift/tools available to me and am somewhat competent.

    I have been getting quotes for around 600 installed through local shops.

    Truck looks awesome!

    I did some research on these leaf springs.

    See table:
    CS047R is "medium load" which I believe is 300kg
    EL091R is rated for constant 600kg load

    If i'm understanding the spring rates correctly those are the spring rates at either end of the compression. So the Hilux pack is 16% stiffer on initial compression and 20% stiffer towards the over load. (someone please correct me if I'm wrong)

    Not sure how this translates to actual ride but there is a difference there. Now, with the shock tuning I'm sure this can be compensated for.

    I'm curious to know more about these leaves and their advantage over the "old" ones. Do these have the same amount of leaves? Higher weight capacity? I'm liking the BP-51 setup the more I look into it. I think it strikes a middle-ground that I'm possibly looking for.
