grinding/rattling noise after new clutch install

i just found this thread about a very similar incident. i may go this route if after the break in period the noise doesn't stop.

well the break in period is up and the noise is still there. i guess its time for the trans to come back down and be separated and all the bearings checked. still finding it hard to believe that changing a clutch would awaken this god awful noise.

 

update-
pulled the catalytic converter off and.....nothing.
so that is off the table as the issue. maybe all of this is just increased gear rattle harmonics due to the new equipment.

 

update-
put a luk repset oem replacement clutch back in the truck. still have the noise.
now im leaning towards the input shaft bearing. gonna chase it until i find it.

 

well to bring this excitement to an end, the noise has disappeared. at least for now anyways...
