Good luck. I'm sticking it out as much as I hate what I'm doing right now. It will payoff in the long run.

agreed. jandrews hit the nail on the head. granted i'm not as old as him, but i'm getting closer to the point that he mentioned. looking back to when i was 17 (i'm almost 21) i had very poor judgement. i'm not saying choose the most stressful path, but rather the smartest. even though you aren't making any money at the apprenticeship, maybe just take tcbob's advice and cut back on hours. unpaid internships like that look good on resumes and job applications down the road. as for the college thing, again, that's your choice, but i'll offer a word of caution...a number of my friends graduated high school with the intentions of taking a year off just to make some money and then go the college....none of them went to college.
the choice is yours, my advise is to think about a few years doen the road when you're looking back on the decisions you made.

good luck with that...i think dropping out of school is a mistake...esp if you dont have a job either...

being in school was the best 4 years of my life...few worries (other than grades) and you can do the triple F (though that 3rd one could be tough if you dont get along with people, are an ass to everyone, and hate the general public

personally...it sounds like you have some sort of other underlying issue you should have checked out by talking to a counselor

its tough to make it in this world when you hate/refuse to get along with other people that much

You could slim back on the number of classes you're taking in college. The military is always an option ( Get paid and get college paid for). OK, that may not be for everyone. I wouldn't quit all together and stop the foreward progress. I understand you wanting to live your life for a year, but don't stop everything.

Usually, there's some self confidence issues there.

You can't be happy with others if you're not happy with yourself.

I hated my younger years. My self confidence sucked back then. I got along great with people but I always felt worthless.

    back to bone stock.
wrong crappy attitude. college was the best friggen time of my life. i made lifelong friends there, partied..chased girls...got an engineering education that is carrying me along in life nicely.

easy to say the enviornment is giving you the bad attitude...i'd say 80% of it comes from within.

quitting college..sometimes it is difficult to make the leap to go back.

really most any job is gonna suck if you have a degree or not...unless you are one of the very few that get like a cool job like being a rockstar or something...lol.....i quit college...my brother is an engineer and he went to college graduated then joined the air force then went back to college and got another degree and i am a college drop out and make almost as much as he does.....degrees help but they aren't everything...it just depends on what you wanna do...that was my problem i couldn't decide on what i wanted to do so i ended up quitting....i had no direction or goal...i still don't know what i wanna do with my life...lol...but i think i'll always be that way....some people are driven to do things and others just kinda go with the flow...but if you are 17 and stessed out and unhappy you are gonna hate life at 30...hahahha

You're 17... What do you mean by 'quitting college'? I don't get the part about you being in college and in high school. Are you taking some extra classes, and working, and going to HS full time? It sounds like you're just overloaded.

I had after-school jobs in HS, but they were nothing major. In HS your job is to be a HS student and have some fun. In college, it's about the same.

It sounds like you need some sort of attitude adjustment when it comes to the way you relate w/ the people around you, but otherwise your plans sounds good to me. Just don't quit going to school until you're finished or you won't go back.

So you'll trade being grumpy and young for being old, grumpy and behind the gun?

Good luck with that. Maybe just start looking for another job and keep hacking at it.

Nobody likes a quitter. Except the AAA.

Given the number of comments calling you a quitter and all, I want to make sure I understand fully...

    You're a HS Senior, right?

Sounds like you have your things worked out, but take it from a fellow FF and someone trying to break into Law Enforcement, what you do in your past will be with you your whole life. Just keep that in mind.

I think you're making the right decision... that was way too much of a load for a 17yo. I mean stay busy and don't just completely slack off (which you already stated you're not)

But yea, take a load off and have a little fun, just try not to get in any trouble... and get some gah dang pussy (no offense to the ladies)

That sounds like a fucking awesome plan, and I'm not being the slightest bit sarcastic.

If you're having this many social issues and you're only 17 then I would definitely say it's a good idea to slow down and get everything in order. I'm only 23 and I have matured and learned more about myself in the past few years than I did in the rest of my life put together, so enjoy your late teens and early 20s.

Where did you work? Might not be a bad idea to have a summer job, even just part time. Extra cash in your pocket, great way to meet people and network and it will prevent you from falling into a rut where you literally do nothing with your life for too long.

    Good luck.
