I hard wired mine mostly for a little project to be honest, never had any other use so for for the storage compartment in the bed anyways haha plus I have no other vehicle to use it on. but I do see how it would be just as convenient to have it in hand and just hook it to the battery.

Cause when you hardwire it all you do is attach the hose and done. But when if you keep it portable just a longer process. Both ways are the simple and quick just different preferences

just keep in mind, some of the viair compressor hoses screw directly into the compressor. if you decide to go with quick connect like I did, u no longer have a pressure relief. the hoses that come with the compressor have one built in. which is why I had to buy one, got an adjustable one off Amazon. 3 different springs and each spring has its own pressure relief range.

Also if you go with the Viair get the one tha hooks up to the battery and not the plug in. You want the 88p.

Save up a little more and go with a Viair 480c and a 2 gallon tank. Find a spot to mount them out of the way and run the hose to a quick connect in the bed.

I don't know for sure if it will go on sale then or not, but right now at $49 is a damn good price also.

I have the 85P, the one with the lighter plug - and like it. I does very well for me, not sure why you are recommending against it other than that the 88P has higher flow, is that all?

Nothing wrong with the 85p! Just a few more options with the 88p. You can run off a 12v battery pack.
Not dependent on working cig lighter or power port. If you use it with just your vehicle, your fine.

Be sure you carry extra power port fuses, if one blows.

I have the viair constant duty and I got tired of popping the hood so what I did was run a wire from the battery to bed storage box an put one of the 2-wire trailer wire ends on it and the compressor and I love that set up, just grab it out of the tool box plug it in and I can air my tires or my wifes pretty quick and don't have to worry about making sure those alligator clips are hooked good anymore
