I tried, honestly, I wanted to give Kurt my hard earned pesos to rebuild my Icon remote resi rear shocks. I started with an email through the 'contact us' page on his website, this was on Monday 11/28. Thursday evening I hadn't heard back so I called, he said he was on his way out of town but to call him Sunday since he would be at his shop all day unloading gear from the trip. I left a voice mail at 12:30PM Sunday. Today is Tuesday and I haven't heard back. I guess good for him having enough money, but I don't feel I should have to chase down people that I want to give money to. I will now go out of my way to take them to Icon in Riverside for service, regardless of who can do it quicker/cheaper. Anyone need me to play courier? I'll be leaving Costa Mesa at 11am, hooray for long lunches!

    Thread title change!

Last Tuesday I dropped my rear shocks off at Icon HQ, missed the cutoff so I had to wait a week. Today they call me and drop a bomb: The $130 rebuild wasn't enough & they had to replace both shafts ($110) plus the elbow for the remote resi hose ($20). Add tax to this and my total was $273. Gulp. Then he says "but it's the holidays, let's help you out with that". A minute of him mumbling and tapping at his calculator he comes back with "how about $113.50 out the door?". I about fell out of my chair since that was cheaper than even just the basic rebuild I had budgeted for. Throw in next day shipping for less than $15 and I'm sold, now I can enjoy my Friday afternoon instead of fighting the 91 to get there & back :turtleride:

TL : DR - DC Shock was too busy to return my call & email, Icon hooked a brudda up with more than half off!

I bought them used and have 0 idea on mileage, based on the time he said they were installed I'd figure minimum of 30k. It was a screaming deal because nobody wanted to buy them for over a year due to their unknown condition & being filthy dirty in the pics.... let's just say the purchase price plus rebuild costs put me still well under half of what it would have cost me to buy new  I wish I could answer your question about how to know when to rebuild them, if it's a slow change it would be hard to detect the tipping point of when to pull them.

Good stuff with icon. I took my front C/O to icon HQ last year after I had about 50,000 miles on them and they rebuilt the fronts for me. Don't wait too long on the rebuild. I was planning on rebuilding my c/o myself but I waited too long and had nitrogen leaking into the shock oil. Basically my shocks still had nitrogen charged inside after I had tried letting out all the nitrogen. Instead of me putting myself in a sketchy situation with charged shocks and springs, I just took me to icon and had the dudes there rebuild them. Great service and if you get them turned into icon on the rebuild day it's like a day turnaround (or at lest it was for me). Good luck with your shocks!
