Well I got some bad news. He said the pinion was pretty much ground down so major issue. He's blaming it on soft gears and that he had the pattern and everything correct. Was shimmed within .oo5 of Nitro specs, I guess. I guess Nitro wants him to send it out to them and they are going to redo it instead of sending him New gears. Looks like I won't have my truck for a couple weeks now. Don't know who is right, hoping he had something wrong and the gears are actually good. I'm hoping the front is good or I'll have a problem down the road with that I guess. Another nightmare. Good thing I insisted on having him take that apart I guess or I would have been stranded on the road somewhere not too far in the near future.:frusty:

Thanks, Me too. I have a hard time believing that everything was right and they are just soft poor quality gears.

Not a chance that it's "soft gears".. Dude is definitely trying to cover his ass. Only way that kind of damage or wear can happen is improper installation.. Nitro will get it right. just sucks that you have to be so inconvenienced

Nitro is the only one with gears for our trucks at this point. They have been making gears for a long time. Hard to believe they would make a poor quality product like that. Jt's will be installing this time. Better turn out right.

Sounds like he just doesn't know what he's doing honestly. For a guy that knows gears to say noisy gears are normal is a huge problem in my mind. Then his "normal noisy gears" are wasted in what 1000 miles? Come on, he screwed up there's no doubt about it. I bet nitro wants the carrier to they can see what he did. Hopefully they don't turn around and say yeah he screwed it up, warranty void. Keep us posted, I hope it all turns out well and you get it back quickly.

Yeah man, it's a total cop out, period. I've been around trucks and the off-road scene for a long time and have installed my fair share of gears.. He screwed up and is trying to pass on the blame. At least Nitro is making it right

I agree Jerry. I knew it didn't sound right from day one. I think it was shimmed to tight, I don't care what kind of pattern he says he had. I didn't expect there would have been that much damage though. He was telling me that there's no way one side could be damaged that bad and not the other side didn't make sense supposedly, but I don't know much about gears. I did agree that he should send it to them I don't think they're going to cover it for him I think he's going to be holding the ball on this one just like he had to with the front differential actuator.

Not sure how this works but I know the front is a completely different set how do I know if they are in there right? I don't hear any noise from the front but would that only be if it was in 4-wheel drive?

I've had quite a few jeeps and a number of them had bad front carrier bearings. They made noise all the time, constant howl. I'd think you would have the same issue but I could be wrong.

If Nitro voids the warranty he's the one paying for them to rebuild it not me! Also the shipping of the whole thing out to the West Coast and back to Wisconsin. Then he can pay to do the gear oil change again at 500 miles. Then Nitro and Jt's will be responsible for the new gear set and the install.

I was planning on driving it to Florida about the 20th of December, but don't know that that's going to happen now.

I especially like how they just took russian driving videos and overlayed the picture of the camera on it....really doesn't show anything. How's the quality?? I also don't quite understand, a blackvue dr650 is less than what you bought
