I have a 99 Tacoma prerunner sr5. I just picked up this truck about a month ago, well I was trying to test the rear diff lock and when I press the button, no lights come on the dash, and It's not engaging. I don't know where to start with it. Any suggestions or help?

It's 2wd.. I just found another thread about the fuses and seen there suppose to have a fuse in the 4wd slot under the dash.. it wasn't there so I put one in.. the light comes on but just blinks when I try to put it on.

How fast are you moving when you try to engage it? I'm fairly certain on the Prerunners you have to be going under 15 or 20 mph for it to engage

There was a thread on here in the first gen section a few weeks ago where a guy found one of the series of wires in his e-locker wiring harness had gotten cut somehow, after he traced them from the front of the truck to the rear. That or maybe it's a bad actuator? You don't hear a 'clack' sound or anything when the button gets pushed?
