Walk into a dealership and offer them $40k for a $45k truck that they wont have for at least another 3-4 months (if they can get an allocation even) and see if they are willing to draw up a contract on the spot.

It's good you're doing your homework. However, the reality is that there's still a high demand for the Pros. Some areas more than others. So you can do all the calculations you want but if you're expecting to pay close or near invoice then you may have to wait until the supply catches up which could be well into next year. I personally had better luck with a small dealership outside of my local area where I paid less than msrp and it didn't have all that dealer added options like the mud flaps, running boards, etc. which I bought afterwards and installed myself for a lot less.

Anyway, good luck and hopefully you'll be part of the Pro family!!

My 2015 TRD Pro was bought used for 35K, it has all the options with 10k miles. New it was $37,983 with the tag still in the truck. Because mine wasnt new, im not sure price wise. But good luck, think white is one of the better looking colors for the 3rd gen TRD Pros.

I tried that. They negotiated to $41.8, but after 3 months never got an allocation. See my previous reccomendation.
If you really want one, go get it. Else, roll the dice

that more or less worked for me, because i set the deal up before the hype started to build, about 3 1/2 months ago. and we stayed with the deal when i paid. zero confidence I'd be able to get that deal now.

my truck arrived at the dealer Saturday at 11am already marked sold to me, and the sales manger put it in live inventory right away to stir up sales anyway. by the time i got there at 4:30 to complete the sale, my man told me he had more than one dozen calls on it. it's a MT truck so seems there's a line for these things, at least right now there is.

Pro's are pretty rare in VA from what I have seen, like you I would have had to order one myself and they weren't willing to negotiate at all. Pay to play. That said I don't think offering 40k-41k is unreasonable but I don't know what their expectations are.

Lol so the truth comes out. I thought you were hating on the Pro in your other posts but it seems you've been secretly wanting one. It's ok to admit it ; )

I dont hate on the Pro. I even said I loved the Pro, its one of the best looking trucks out there. BUT I am NOT going to pay $8000 more for one. The difference in this discussion is, he made up his mind about a Pro. If somone asks if they should get an OR or a Pro my answer will always be to get the OR, depending on situation. If I had zero intention to modfiy my truck I would have gotten the Pro, I didn't get a Pro because I would pay $8000 more for it and end up ripping the suspension out anyway.

I dunno where you get the 8K difference from but what I paid for my Pro was not that far off from a fully loaded OR. Also, it was from a small dealership in VA. Anyway, Pros are out there and depending on the area and time of the month or year doesn't have to be msrp.

My OR was $36k, no dealer would move below MSRP on a Pro and it had to be ordered which came to about $44k.

Yea I know what you mean. I almost broke down and thought about paying msrp. But then I called this dealership that had one on their lot, spoke to the general mgr and worked out a fair deal. The nice thing was they didn't add all that extra dealer installed options just because they know they can and still command sticker. I was about to buy a loaded up Sport if I had to pay sticker for the Pro so I was in the same boat as you. Anyway enjoy your OR, the TRDs in general are awesome trucks.

This feels circular. We all know you can build as capable if not more capable OR for the price of a Pro. The argument is the economics are better with a Pro in that the value retention is higher. It costs more but will be worth more later, and that's smart, even though it feels dumb to pay sticker.
Modded trucks are worth the value of the truck. Seldom do you get any of those aftermarket investments back.

Assuming you intend to sell the truck within a reasonable age and mileage limit. For people like me a 10 year old truck with 300k miles is not worth much regardless of Pro, due to significant markups on the Pro I am curious if you really recoup the higher cost. I doubt it. but we are off topic.

Maybe-I bought a new Pro because I was in the market for a beater daily driver and was finding 10-15 YO gen1s with similar mileage selling for 10-12k- I said damn, I might as well buy new.

And Fwiw, my buddy has been selling toyotas for a decade. His quote to me is you can trade a pro in for 3k less sticker in 3 years, maybe better for cement because its only going to be offered in 2017 and only on the pro... we'll see on that.

Look at the 2015 infernos for history.

Maybe it is hype, I'm taking the bet
