want to replace ko2s

i currently have 285/70/17 ko2 tires only have 6000 miles on them, they were on the truck when i bought it they are e loads and very heavy about 58lbs/per i do 99% highway driving..

i am looking at firestone destinations a/t

is anyone running these how do they do in dry/wet i live in north central indiana an do get some snow but not enough to write home about

 

Look at the Bridgestone Revo 2. Have it on my 1st gen pre runner that i use on road. good mileage, great tire. Get it from costco when they have the bridgestone sale. It is super cheap. But order it online in the right weight rating. they only carry the heavy ratings in store. takes a day or so to be delivered to them. Or look at the Michelin AT. The ones on the Tundra. that is a great tire too.

 

You might consider the same tire in something besides an E load. I have the General Grabber AT-2 in a little larger size than stock and only had a small hit in mpgs. If I would have went with the original size, I'm not sure I would have noticed a hit.

I would say whatever tire you get, get 265/75r16s. I have the in the Kbro2s and only noticed a slight MPG hit. They are load E though so that is a huge part of it. But when you do off road, the slight increase in tire size is nice to have.

Also, even Firestone recommends the Revo 2...

 

I had some destination ats load range c get me thru california to Oregon a few yrs ago when they had some nasty storms.

Even 2wd, the tires never made me feel uneasy, i had 150ish lbs of sand in the back, but this still wouldnt help if the tires were crap. Even during dry times and taking off relatively easy, u can hear the treads pawing at the road. They are not noisey tho... i just mean they wanna grip and with the back window open u can hear that... remember on a bicycle when u would pedal hard on road u could hear the tires pawin away?

Highways speeds are quiet, no lug slapping, great in rain, very good in snow, decent in dirt. Smooth riding in load range c.

 

Shit, lol i didn't see that for some reason... i'm an idiot lol. Go +1 in tire size if you can.... IDK much about 17's though you would have to look at the forums to see what others run in that size

really pleased with my Toyo AT2s. I am a mostly highway driver with occasional trips into a field or dirt road. I got the 265/70/17 P-load and it seems to be a good compromise for noise/tread/hwy-driving/looks with 65k warranty. Very good reviews as well. They look a lot better than the stock tires.

You do realize those weigh 53 lbs each, as compared to something like the general grabber at2's that weigh only 40lbs and still have a similar handling characteristic on and off road. The only downfall to the grabber's I've heard is they wear faster.

 

Michelin LTX AT2, great AT and less aggressive. I didnt confirm tire size though.

Correct, was referring to the other post about 265s didn't realize OP was looking for 285s, if that's the case I had 285 toyo open country's on my 2015 and they were the lightest and best looking/handling 285s.

 

I am the only one besides you on this forum that looks at tire weight

On other forums I am on people are buying different tires to save 1-2lb

On this forum there seems to never a mention of weight, just width. But plenty of posts about bad mpg...

Wouldn't removing weight from tire, if possible, be the best weight savings ?

Though on this forum looks of tire seems to be main purchase criteria

 

i race cars on the weekend so unsprung weight in in a little 4 banger is a big increase speed for me
