Recently bought the 17" TRD Pro rims to replace the sport rims that came with my Tacoma. I have some questions to ask:

Would the TPMS be able to be switched over to the new rims?

Should I purchase new ones from fountain tire when I get new tires installed with the new rims?

Should I go without TPMS? But would the dealership give me crap if they saw the TPMS sign go off inside the truck when it is in for service?

Pull the TPMS sensor from your old wheels and install them in the new rims... It's built into the air stem.

Or Order new TPMS sensors from eBay ~ $100 for a set of 4.

You can run without. You will just have the indicator on your dash unless you use disable it all together. You can use a tuner to disable it or https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/complete-tpms-disable-guide.161292/

Discount tire transferred mine for free. They were originally going to charge me $8 a wheel but did a military discount. Even paying it would be worth it to me to not have that damn light come on 15 minutes into the drive.

A lot of guys don't like the TPMS. It is not intended to replace your air gauge, but is a warning in the event of a rapid deflation at high speed. I've had mine come on and warn me of potentially dangerous situations in the past. Worth keeping it for me.

Thanks guys, I guess since it is built into the Air stem I'll get them transferred over!

When it goes into service at the dealership, will they give me crap about not having sensors?

    Maybe, but it doesn't matter.

If you don't mind having a dash light on in a brand new truck then don't use them. If it bothers you to see lights on the dash in a brand new truck, put them back. You don't need new TPMS sensors, regardless.

I don't have any because they all broke. My truck was just at the dealer for the leaf spring recall and they didn't even mention it. I'd like to assume they saw the dash light on, looked at the tires and saw the sensors weren't installed and figured it was done on purpose. The dash light was annoying at first but i got used to it quickly.

I don't have any because I threw mine in the trash and turned the light off. tpms is useless. End thread.
